Note freeze?

Post by w00fa » Fri Dec 07, 2012 12:59 pm

Just got my Minitaur, and in some occasions it freezes on a note (mostly when adjusting settings in the Editor app). I'm not really down to specifics yet, but I'll look into it, later tonight.

The only way I was able to reset it is by unplugging and re-plugging the power.

I'm plugged via USB.

Has anyone encountered this?

Cheers.

I've had had this problem a number of times. Normally, I only have the Minitaur connected to my Voyager by midi.

I haven't had it reoccur, since I posted. Make sure your Minitaur is all firmwared 'n shizzle.

Yep - had this on a few occasions. Had to disconnect the power supply.

Maybe this has been addressed in Rev2 (?)

Same here. When it locks up for me the whole instrument is locked up. I try sending the panic CC#120 or 123 on then off to it and nothing seems to work. All the buttons freeze where they are at as well. So if Release is on I can't turn it off etc. Power cycling the Minitaur is the only thing that works. I am using it via a USB connection. I do have the latest FW as well.

Well, be careful because my Minitaur just doesn't recover from that freezing. At first, I have the same problem you have, but today, even I unplugged power it stays playing any note I hit and as you say, freezes. I email my vendor to ask him about warranty, it only has no more than 6 months I bought it.

I use mine with a Roland PK-5 midi foot pedal. Sometimes during songs while rehearsing with my band it suddenly doesn't respond to midi at all. The only thing that works is to power it off and on again. This is rather frustrating and would be a total disaster in a live setting!

Amos (if you read this): what is this freeze issue all about ? Clearly we're dealing with a rather universal bug that occurs on multiple units here ?

Hi!

I bought my Minitaur about 5 months ago. It was the first time today that I had a FREEZE NOTE. I've been playing the synth for one hour and suddenlyI understod that one of the notes it freezed. I swithched off the Midi keyboard, but only switching off the Minitaur solved the problem.

Do all of you still have the same problem?

Thank you!

I've been noticing the same issue with mine. It tends to happen when I'm playing a sequence into it. I've been wondering if there's a stray CC message that get's sent, but now I'm wondering if it's just a firmware issue. I tend to run it with a MIDI DIN in and on USB (USB for editor, MIDI for controller/sequencer), so that may be part of the problem, though I have had it happen just on MIDI (when I ran my TB-3 into it as a trigger - it did NOT like that at all!).

I love the sound of the Minitaur and am learning a ton about synthesis (I'm really a guitarist), but I have to say that the flakiness is disappointing (the driver being essentially non-functional in Ableton) - I was expecting something a little more solid out of Moog . . . .

All of these Minitaur issues is a very strange thing... Moog is one of the most famous and one of the best companies that produces the synthesizers, but making the instrument with all these problems is very unlikely...

MOOG!!!
SOLVE it PLEASEEEEE!!!! :?
