Sirin/Minitaur octave up/down

Post by hieronymous » Tue May 31, 2022 12:53 pm

I love playing my Sirin with either Roland PK-5A or McMillen 12-Step bass pedals. However, in both cases, switching octaves requires two button pushes. On the Roland, it doesn't happen instantly, I find there is a noticeable delay. On the 12-Step, the Select button is hard to push, despite adjusting the pedal sensitivity.

OK - enough complaining - is there some MIDI footswitch that can be used/set to switch octaves with one click?

That's a good idea: a device that can run customized MIDI cc commands, assigned to a footswitch?

There must be something like that out there. Didn't Moog make a multifunction MIDI pedal, a few years ago?

The Moog MP-201 was hard to program, as there was never an editor.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

Plus it is quite stellar priced on the used market now.

You may want to check out the MidiSolutions products,: they propose a lot of programmable boxes and their sw editor.
For example, the Dual Footswitch Controller could help you.
I know this brand since a long time but have never their products.

One step further is to get a small cpu board, e.g. Arduino, and develop your own firmware. I've thought about this to make my Little Phatty duophonic... maybe some day :)

Oh and if you happen to have a Clavia G2, it will do the job too but is quite cumbersome for this use :D

Thank you for the suggestions!

I think the Morningstar MC-3 would work. Not seeing them in-stock - hope they still make them! I don't need to do a lot of things - just shift octaves and maybe select presets.

I did not know about those MorningStar products, thanks for sharing.
As far as just changing presets, the Tech 21 MidiMouse could do the job.
