MP-201 MIDI-Clock Sync
I've received my MP-201 today. It is absolutely mindblowing!!!
I used the CV1 for the MURF rate and combined CV2&CV3 via the 4waymixer on the CP-251 to send it to the carrier in of the MF-102. Using preset 08 that resultet in a wonderful doublesawwavetremolomurfed sound.
My problem so far though is that I haven't been able to receive the MIDI-Clock in on the MP-201. So on the presets where I have programmed the LFO to be synced to MIDI-Clock nothing happens. I'm using the MicroKorg as the source of the MIDI-Clock, connecting the MIDI out of that into the MIDI in of the MP-201. The MIDI LED does light up orange (rapidly blinking) but changing the bpm value on the MicroKorg doesn't have any effect on the rate (the none existing one, since the LFOs aren't running).
What am I doing wrong?

Even when I play the LFOs do not start...r05c03 wrote:I sync my CP-201 to my Machine Drum's MIDI Clock. The LFOs do not start oscillating until I press play. I wish I could change this so that they oscillate when ever they receive MIDI clock.
Wouldn't your problem be solved by using "continous" as LFO off mode?

You are certainly right! Only after the push on the play button the LFOs of the MP-201 start to run. How do I send a start message from my MicroKorg to the MP-201? I usually start the arpeggiator (latch) and by varying the tempo of that the MIDI-Clock bpm value is adjusted. I used to sync my MURF via a Doepfer interface to the MicroKorg and I remember having to press a button on that interface (a sort of a start message)...r05c03 wrote:Is the MP 201 getting a "start" message from the keyboard. I am almost certain that it is getting a "start" message from the HR 16. The LFOs do not start when you are using the HR 16 until you press play...correct?
Thank you very much r05c03!

Yes!;-) We are doing so at rehearsals now and will do so at concerts.r05c03 wrote:Can you, in any way, use your drum machine as the temp control unit? There is usually a work around.
The only thing bothering me with the HR-16 is that the internal tempo does not correspond with (for example) digital performer etc. But that is another problem that doesn't need solving now;-)
I'm happy using my MP-201 and am pretty sure it is the best buy I've made this year... Thanks for all the patience with my lack of knowledge;-)
is Digital Performer a app? If so, just spend some time digging through the preferences. Assuming that the HR16 sends the right signals and your DAW interface has MIDI in/out, you should be able to sync the DP clock with the HR or Visa Versa
