Moog 1130 Stand

Post by dingebre » Wed Feb 26, 2020 7:07 pm

I just purchased a Moog 1130. The mount on its side doesn't seem to be a common or normal drum mount and the smallest snare drum stands I've found are too big. This thing measures about 9 inches [** EDIT: 7 3/4 inches, sorry**] in diameter at the bottom. I spent some time on the phone with my sales rep at Sweetwater and there was no good way to hold the 1130 without changing out either the 1130s mount or a drum lug. I don't want to start doing that kind of modification especially because the one I picked up is in extremely good cosmetic condition. There are precious few videos/photos of one of these mounted on a stand and I can't see how it was done. I would love any ideas. I'm attaching a photo of the drum mount* if it helps.

Many thanks

David

*Not my 1130. Didn't have a photo handy. But the mount is the same.

CANCEL THE ALERT!!!!! NO MORE REPLIES PLEASE!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

(cricket chirping...) actually, not even a cricket chirped :)

Seriously, I found a mount. Short version is the bracket on the drum is a Pearl harness clip, look at a Pearl CT1216. This part number mounts on a larger diameter drum than the 1130, but is the same idea. The holding clip/bracket is also a vintage Pearl part, a Tom holding clip. This type of system is also used on the Pearl Syncussion drum synthesizer. Anyway, some patience and vigilance on eBay led me to the proper Tom holder and I was able to slip it into a Yamaha drum stand.

Thought I'd add a couple of photos of the bracket I found on ebay to hold the 1130. Quite a nice setup. Now, I need a second 1130 to balance the stand :)
