Moog 1130 questions

Hey everyone,
I'm new here. I'm just getting into this genre of music. I'm mainly a drummer...on a regular trap kit.

So my cousin was clearing out his studio and knows I'm a drummer and gave me an old early 1970s Moog 1130 drum controller. It's in excellent shape. He's had it stored for years and years. It seems really cool.

It has scale and sensitivity controls right on the drum, and all the neccesary cords, but aside from the two 1/4" phone plugs these jacks look like nothing I've ever seen before and don't know what I would be able to plug these into and use. I haven't been able to find much information on these, other than they are Cinch-jones connectors. I've never even heard of those, let alone have any gear with those on them. It had the two 1/4" plugs going to an old 1950s Fender volume pedal?? I don't get it???

I guess by now the 1130 drum controllers are pretty rare. So all the info I could find online was all the same. Nothing about updating them to use on newer gear.
Would that be an awful thing to do to such a cool old piece of Moog history? I certainly don't want to ruin it!

Do I have to have an older analog synth that takes these types of input jacks? Or is there any way of updating the Cinch-jones jacks to use with newer Midi controllers? I don't quite have the money right now to sink into a bunch of gear. My wife has a Midi keyboard but it's looking like that isn't going to work out for this. :(

Keep in mind, I am very new to all of this, so these might be awfully stupid questions, but I have to start somewhere. I found this site and figured this would be the absolute best place to get advice about this controller. So please go easy on my ignorance on Moog eqiupment.

Any advice is much appreciated!!
Thank you!

Hi there, just got one of these myself. The connectors (Cinch Jones) interface with just a few vintage Moogs- Satellite, Sonic Six, Mini & Micro. The underneath of the controller shows the connections to the synths.

Just saw this while I was browsing...

The Moog 1130 was supplied with an adapter cable which was used to interface the 8 pin cinch jones on the attached cable and then provide a 6 pin cinch jones, a couple 1/4 inch jacks, and a 2 pin cinch jones. The 6 pin cinch jones was used to provide power to the 1130 (or other accessory) which was plugged into the Moog synthesizer like Minimoog or modular. The 6 pin cinch jones also had an output for a voltage trigger (V-Trig). The two 1/4 inch plugs provided control voltage signals (CV), the main CV signal as well as an auxiliary (AUX) CV signal. The two pin cinch jones was the Moog standard switch trigger (S-Trig) signal. You can see this in the images below.

There is no direct Midi interface for the 1130 or other accessories. They are simple control voltage devices. You can certainly make your own adapter cable with a female 8 pin cinch jones and then add your own cables with appropriate connectors to provide power (+ 10 to +15 works in my experience), and then some connectors to break out the two CVs, and either or both the V-Trig and S-Trig. I have more information that is too big to attach to this post. Email me if you want more information.

If you still have it and are interested in selling, let me know. I'd love to have a pair of them :)
