MP-201 midi clock sync issues

Post by Pantherairsoft » Sun Jul 31, 2011 8:38 am

Hi folks,

Experiencing some slight issues with midi clock sync.

If I have an LFO running to a midi clock (which is also the metronome we play to), while it is always running at the correct BPM, it seems to only actually lock to the exact 'click' on occasion.

Example…
Using the MP-201 in quad mode I have the preset 00 set up controlling a range of parameters, one of which is the cutoff of my LPF via expression. No problems here.
I also have preset 01 controlling a range of parameters, this time the cutoff is fed with an LFO and sync'd via midi clock from our metronome.

I'm playing away using the 00 preset, then during a drum break in the track i change to preset 01 and then kick in the tremolo sound. As I turn to preset 01, the light around the LFo suddenly starts blinking at the same tempo as the metronome/midi clock - perfect, however, whilst it is at the same BPM it is not always running sync'd to the actual beat, so when you start playing its sometimes on the off beat, and sometimes between the beat and off beat. Only way to get it spot on is to keep flicking back and forth between preset 01 and another preset until its right as each time you come back to preset 01 it's spot on.

Sometimes it works 1st time, others it takes 3 or 4 times of bringing up the preset before the LFO is sync'd directly to the beat. Am I missing something thats causing this issue?

hi, when you call up preset 01 you inmediatly start playing or you change preset and then start playing?? i think maybe you should put the channel that is sending the lfo to the lp in "initial mode off" and when you start your playing turn it on, and the lfo also has a setting that may help doing this (i can´t remember it right now), the thing i'm trying to say it's that you should try to sync the start of your playing with the start of the lfo cycle...

Still go problems with this, beat 1 does not reset when you turn odd and back on the channel. It seems to set from turning the dial to the correct bank! Seems crazy
