MP-201 Midi Through

Post by finalmattasy » Tue May 24, 2011 7:50 pm

Hi guys, this is my first post, but I've used these forums a fair bit in the past.. anyways, I'm wondering if there is a setting on the MP201 that will allow me to use a midi keyboard on the midi in of the pedal sending pitch and/or velocity/aftertouch, through the midi out of the pedal and thus into a synth.

Most synth modules only have one midi in, so it seems pretty expected that anybody using the pedal with such a module should be able to run a keyboard prior to the pedal. A schematic of the pedal's routing led me to believe that it would do this, but so far I'm stuck.. it does CV pitch out, why not midi pitch?.. am I missing something?

I'm using a Nord G2 engine, so it should be possible for me to map almost any midi cc to pitch the osc's; but I'm still lost as to how I can cause a keyboard to play though the mp201

If there is an option for midi through I'd love to know.

My midi clock generator only has one out, but I have 2 devices i want to sync. The MP-201 & a Boss SL-20. I'd love to run a cable from the midi out on the MP-201 to the Slicer and just have the midi clock continue so they are both sync'd.

after waiting for a reply for a while here; I have come to assume that there is no midi thru capability (maybe v3  ).
I ordered a 4-1 merger for midi solutions.. hope it works! They sell midi splitters and various other things if you're still looking for that clock to be split. Or be like me and get yourself an $800 splitter with a couple filters attached, a la the Sherman Filterbank!

Hi guys, i might be wrong but i think there's a midi through option for the MP. I use a T3 to send midi notes out into the MP's midi in, then i use midi out of the MP and send it to the Midi Solutions Quadra Through, then to my LP and a Juno G. It works fine... when i adjust a parameter in my T3 the other synths recieve that too so my guess is that you con send midi instructions through the MP.

In the MP manual this function it's called Midi Merge.... hope this helps

BLAAARGG! You're right. Midi Merge, something I had turned off and refused to check the manual about, is exactly what I was looking for. The MidiSolutions box will still be put to good use; but yeah. Thanx for the info.
