Moogertron Mk II Test Panel

The next stage of Moogertron: one big panel.

This one is just acrylic, which is too flimsy and too thick to work in the final version.

Designed by brother Pete, now I have to do the electronics.

8x 9VDC powersupply: done
Desolder panel jacks, or extend those which have board connectors
Work in mods (104 spillover, 101 ext. trigger, CV attenuators etc.)
Add bling

The final panel will be made of thin steel and will probably be powercoated and screen printed.

Watch this space!

Heya!

Wait until it's got backlit acrylic letters and fancy gadgets!

Warranty: gone! The ring mods and filter were second hand anyway, the rest well over a year old. The only thing recent was a MIDI MuRF, luckily that won't need desoldering. Hopefully not too many static-sensitive parts... I'm careful.

So I've got all the PCB-mounted sockets off, next is to wire the new sockets so they can sit above or below the 'foogers. And put in CV mods where appropriate. Man it was hard torching the 104SD... please forgive me! :)

Im curious as to what made you choose that particular arrangement of Foogers. In my rack I put, 107 102 104z. My other rack is to contain 103 101 105b whenever I get the 105b, and I haven't figured out the order of that yet.

I don't usually keep mine strictly in the audio chain, but the 102 went in the middle because it was the oldest and had scratches on the cheeks so my placement is determined by which one I want to sacrifice the cheek pieces on.

When I get my other rack I might change the order more to the Fooger synth, but I was thinking that the 103, 101, 105b makes a pretty nice filter bank.

Awesome design though...i really wish that I could do stuff like that.

Can't wait to see what it looks like!

Eric, I think it had something to do with a basic model number order, then arranging the two ring mods and MuRFs together for symmetry. With all the front-mounted sockets, patching is no big deal. It even helps to have a little bit of space between them.

psi, it's not too bad! The first version had lots of wood panels and very heavy sockets (about 8 kg/ 20 lb of metal). This version was designed to be lifted by one person and have a more compact arrangement.

I think the rear will be acrylic (as long as there isn't too much RFI) so you can see all the circuits and the lights peeking through.

Probably building a new one to accommodate the ClusterFLux :D

Yeah, probably one of the MuRFs or Ring Mods should be relegated.

I have been terribly slack on this, trying to write up a PhD, but I will have a lot more time when that is done.

Semi-finished:

Wow... that's amazing
Mind you, taking apart a 104sd should be against the law!
