Is the Red Square totally modular- ie does it make no sound at all unless it's patched with a cord or two, or is it semi-modular like a Korg MS20?

My EMS VCS3 is certainly a modular-in-a-box, and unlike the Moog modulars and most others, the patch-matrix means that every module is patchable with 16 inputs and outputs! Mind-boggling stuff!
