Reading this thread might have just saved me thousands of dollars...

I came across this review on Guitar Center's website of the exact stand that I am using..."Pro line" 3 tier X stand...http://www.guitarcenter.com/ProLine-Qui ... ce=4WPGWXX

BE VERY CAREFUL OF THIS PRODUCT !!! I play professionally, 3 to 4 nights a week...the bolts loosen up at the cross bracing, whigh makes the lock pin ineffective...on a gig just last night, I placed my Yamaha s 90 es on the stand...it collasped, and the round adjusting plate went right through the bottom of my s 90....which created it's own set of problems...remember, every time you open up this stand to set it up, you are also loosening up the bolts that hold it together...I think that since this is a guitar center product, they should pay for the damages...IF YOU VALUE YOUR KEYS, DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Reviewed by tony on 6/14/2007 who plays jazz/r&b.

There are two sets of bolts at the cross section of this thing...one of which was missing. Basically, the pin was the only thing holding all the weight. I've only played live twice with this stand...

Scary to think that this was holding my Voyager, Minimax ASB, vx-351, cp-251, mf102, mf103, mf104z, mf105, mf107(foogers mounted to a board)

As I am writing this, my Voyager and his friends are resting on my couch. I guess I'll be getting a new stand soon.

This might just solve my problem, I can't believe I didn't think of it before.

I read a review of this stand, says its made out of plastic, can pick it up with one hand. I don't know if Id trust it with Alot of heavy and expensive gear.

Theres a guy on here who build stands using tubular metal poles. Im trying to remember if that is John L Rice or not. That would be the type of stand Id want to get for sure.

Actually the review said that it was sturdy.

I'm sure it's fine. I've had several items by the same company and never had a problem.

There is a marked difference between the original Ultimate Support A-frame hardware and the On-Stage A-frame hardware. US is FRP and OS is ABS. I did the eBay route and have mountains of US parts. I would have used the OS if I couldn't have found it all.

I put some weight on mine.

Check out the Quicklok QL-642, the dimensions are almost perfect for the LP on top.
Even though I only have a P08 on the bottom, I will eventually be upgrading to a monster synth, something like the OB (good combo by the way) It will fit easily.
I spent about a year researching and can assure you it's solid. Even though it's a X frame design, you can still get you legs quite comfortably under the 1st tier. I am very happy.
Let us know what you decide.
