Well, I installed the Arturia Moog V with no problem but I can't get it to make a single sound...

You will need to set the preferences under File. You need to get your sound card as the audio out. If you have a typical sound card, there might be some latency: a delay in hearing your sound after hitting a key. A sound card with an ASIO driver will improve things quite a bit. You may need to redirect on the IN and Out which is located on the top of the softsynth's main panel.

I use the Moog Modular V2. It's a very good softsynth and will give you the basic understanding of working with a modular. I have used it frequently in live performance. The written manual that comes with the purchased softsynth is quite informative.

Preferences has 4 boxes:

Audio Protocol: options Direct X and Asio
Audio Drver: None and Yamaha PCI Audio
Sample rate: 44100 and 4410
Knob Control Knob: Circular, Circular Negative and Linear

How should they be?

To get the Arturia Moog Modular to make a sound you have to right-click on the VCA gain knob and select the keyboard as your input or something like that -- can't remember exactly offhand. I can check if you're still stuck. Although I think the presets should be wired to make a sound right off the bat...

You will need to select a preset as well. I'm not sure what kind of sound card and driver you have. You will have to fiddle around with that.

I'd first try:
ASIO
Yamaha PCI Audio
44100
Linear (this is not essential at this stage. It's for moving virtual knobs)

If this doesn't work, try the other settings. I am assuming your audio card is the Yamaha.

HooraY! it worked! The only problem now is I can play 4 notes and it stops.
Is there a way to have my processor not always be at maximum capacity?
I kmow it's runnimg a lot of junk. It is running at 1 Gh.

That Arturia software is notoriously taxing on processors!

No way to make it work, after playing 4 notes it saturates the processor and though the task manager says the application is running it seems frozen... oh! and I can't see the keyboard anymore. I must say however that the graphics are superb!

Is there anything a little friendlier out there?
