You are correct that the brass was Minimoog.Khoral wrote:Speaking about Rick Wright, I believe that the awesome brass pad on Wish you were here (the song) was made stacking Minimoog lines....
I could be wrong, but I don't see any other gear he used at the time that could have produced this...
So definitely, a must to hear

I can't read Rick James without thinking of that Dave Chapelle skit. I'm Rick James, bitch! Rick James don't play that!

I was just thinking Mort Garson as I saw this post. Black Mass is sooooooo good! Also gotta love Gary Numan, Kraftwerk, Wendy Carlos, as others have said. Add N to X was a more modern group that really loved em some Moog. I almost forgot Brainiac, who's got lots of Moog racket.EricK wrote:Mort Garson is essential in Moog history and when I find this website with all his music for download Ill post it here.

I know it's kinda off topic; it's not Moog, it's not really an 'essential song', but it's so funny I just couldn't resist.

I heard about him on the day that he died (January 2008) and a member of the users group posted a link to his music.jamezdd73 wrote:Hey, Thanks for this link!EricK wrote: http://www.eggcityradio.com/?p=81

Try to find Black Mass/Lucifer by Mort Garson. Every bit as amazing. There is of course his "Electronic Hair Pieces", which is quite fun, but not as out there.jamezdd73 wrote:I've never heard of Mort Garson before you mentioned him, but his stuff is great! Grab it while you can people!
I need to be kept from this thread, as I could go on for days with this stuff.
That was grrreat I love Tales From Topographic Oceans, a veritable MiniMoog orgy that one.Christopher J. Boylan wrote:So, to celebrate those days of discovery, have a listen to the last portion of YES playing South Side of the Sky with Rick on Minimoog trading 8s with Steve Howe on his legendary ES157 Gibson. Other Moogy favourites of mine... Seventies Zappa records, Duke and Mars performed some amazing MiniMoog acrobatics.
Tangerine Dream's Phaedra was already mentioned, but it certainly deserves another mention. Love those sequences.
And of course the great Roger O'Donnell.
Akai Miniak, Moog Sub 37 on pre-order, Roland Jupiter-4, Roland SH-101, Sequential Circuits Prophet-600, iPad, NI Komplete

Most of that is an act, I think. Look at him on stage or in the World of Warcraft commercial. THAT'S the real Ozzy.mysterycircuits wrote:Yeah, he hasn't got a single clue about what he's doing. (not surprising if you took acid every day for a whole year).

I'm not sure this actually is a Moog (I think it is)... but this is by far one of the wickest tracks featuring a synth solo:
Larry Young - Turn Off The Lights

If anyone is SURE what this synth exactly is it 'd be really appreciated!
