Myspace Moog
I've done cd with the Voyager and model D and a few other bits of gear, have a listen to the Wakeman style solo on the 1st track,it's intended as film score credit music, but some interesting (i think)sounds and tracks have emerged, the tracks were all improvised.http://www.myspace.com/thex111sessions.Hope you like it

Hey,
I am 16 years old wakeman fan and from victoria also. I really love the tracks you have up on ur myspace. The synth is fantastic, as is the piano.
What keyboard are you using for your piano?
There aren't enough prog fans around and it is good to know that there is some appreciation for 'real' music in Aus
Good Luck with the music and keep recording as I would love to listen to more.

Very nice, cageswood. Loved the lead on the "Tension in the Great Hall" -- the "wakey" style track. Tell me, was it a Model D or Voyager? haha.
On your myspace page you mentioned using a Tascam 24 track. I'm curious exactly which Tascam that was. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I wondered if you had used a 2488. I just got a new 2488MKII myself and it arrived yesterday. Your songs on myspace pretty well answer any questions about how well it can record synths.cageswood wrote:Hi Bruce,"Tension" was done on the model D and the Tascam is a 2488mk11.Regards and thanks for the comments
If you don't mind a few more questions about how you recorded:
1. What type of effects did you typically use? the 2488 internal effects? synths? or outboard?
2. Any tips or hint you could provide a newbie would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi Bruce, the recording had no internal effects running, they are ok though, i usually put a slight bit of top end on the eq on the Tascam,i used a Lexicon MX200 for real time delay speed control and has a much better reverb selection than the inboard and it was mastered on Wavelab for fadein/outs/,just be careful to keep your levels so they're not distorting, and transferring to a computer is easy once you get a handle of it by usb,get a nice pair of headphones(i have AKG 240df) and check your stereo imaging, and make sure the lead synth is above anything else. It's easy to get it and the frequencies lost depending on the quantity of stuff behind it.Any more queries please let me know.Cheers
Hey thanks for the info, cageswood! Ain't digital clipping grand? Thank goodness for the overload light on the 2888.
I've got an MPX500 that I'll probably use at some point down the road and good phones (Senn. HD280) and monitors. Good advice about muddying up the mix.
When I get to that point, I'll have to check out WaveLabs.
Thanks again!

Man I hate digital clipping! You can tiptoe around Analog Clipping if you are careful, but digital clipping shows no mercy.boose44 wrote:Hey thanks for the info, cageswood! Ain't digital clipping grand?
Especially when someone bumps up the trim when you are laying down a smoothe track and later you want to murder them.
lolol
