Minimoog voted best synthesizer of all time at Sonicstate.co

Post by dr_floyd » Wed May 23, 2007 2:31 pm

Today Sonicstate.com released the final video in their top 20 greatest synthesizers. The Minimoog is the only Moog that made the top 20.

Today is especially fitting because May 23 is the birthday of Bob Moog and Kevin Lightner's Mother!

Pretty good!

Good to see input from Marc (museslave) and Mel (mee3d), too!

This was the only position and synth I was sure to expect in the count down at a given position.

But hey, why is there a Mellotron and a Solina in the count down of the best synths ever?
These are no synths.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

It was a loose sort of deal, and they just basically went by vote count.

I'm embarrassed that you can hear that my Mini needs its key contacts cleaned in that video.

Simon Power from SonicState contacted me some months back regarding my analogue video interviews ... there are clips used in a few of the synth countdowns and I believe my mate Richard (RLMusic) offered soundbytes and photos from his large collection.

I didn't have anything to do with the No. 1 spot although it was pretty obvious what synth it was going to be ... again i guess it's down to who bothered to vote as I thought some of the synth positions were just wrong. I wonder how many people that voted have actually played all these keys to make an informed judgement? - each to their own.
