Does anyone know if YouTube has started broadcasting BBC TV programmes yet - because if they have it means anyone in Britain who doesn't watch TV and therefore doesn't have a license can't use YouTube without being fined.
I tried raising this with YouTube but couldn't seem to get through to them about the problems we have in Britain. I've stopped accessing the site because of this - obviously if it's no longer safe to watch for British people without a license I'll fall foul of that if I log in to check if they've started the BBC collaboraton yet.

What a great piece to play for percussion ensemble! I was in percussion ensemble in jr. high.. I'll bet they get more insterested students when they perform stuff like that..
Did anyone else hear a Zappa-esque sound to this, what with the marimbas and xylophones? I never drew a connection to the musical aspect until I heard Emerson's music played with the acoustic percussion.
That also reminds me, a bit, of seeing ELP play this tune live back in the 70s, during the Works tour. I had heard the tune more than a few times--but that moment when Greg Lake played that guitar solo and then played the melody line was such a thrill--the whole show was a psychedelic experience in more ways than one!

Don't you just love a music director with VISION!!! My son had such a teacher in high school, and what a differance it has made in his life.
Hats off to this teacher.
My GAWD....Moogs, ELP...... I would have been a "band geek" if we had a teacher like this at my high school.
Very inspiring.

It's Karn Evil 9 parts 1 & 2.
Mostly mallet percussion, but also guitar, synth, horns, vocals, etc.
Done very accurately and pretty much note for note.
Fwiw, I use a Mac OSX app called Get Tube to download You Tube videos.
I saved these videos to my harddrive, but it'd be about 130 meg upload to help you view them this way.

Thanks, that sounds interesting. I had a suspicion it might be that.
The problem with YouTube isn't viewing the videos - it's falling foul of the laws on TV transmissions in Britain, now that YouTube has done a deal with the BBC (see my earlier post). As soon as YouTube starts broadcasting BBC stuff by agreement with them I won't be able to log in there, and nor will anyone else in Britain without a license, without risking fines unless we pay the government about £130 a year. As YouTube can't (or won't) understand the issue and don't seem to want to talk about it, I have no idea what stage this deal is up to.
