Need CV Offset - CP-251 Alternatives?

Post by Lame Name » Tue Aug 18, 2020 2:37 am

Anyone know of any non-Eurorack devices that can provide offset for CV?
I'm aware CP-251 can do it, but I'm on a budget. :)
I need to get a unipolar 1 to 10V signal down to -5 to +5V for my DFAM.

More details for anyone that wants to read more:
I was planning on going into Eurorack and getting modules I could use to modulate my DFAM (and Erebus V2).
A bit pricey, but I could just pick up a module here and there (for birthday, Christmas, son's birthday, anniversary, Easter, Memorial Day, daughter's birthday... Kidding, I can totally handle temptation.).

Then Soma Laboratory introduced Ornament-8 out of the blue and it occurred to me that I could just get that and actually focus on playing them together instead of constantly being on the lookout for a sweet deal on a righteous module.
(I'm probably destined to end up with a Lyra-8 eventually even though it's difficult to find people actually making music with them.)

Ornament-8 outputs 1 to 10V.

you might be able to build something, if you do a search online for schematics

You know, I'm surprised how many suggestions I've received to DIY it.
Getting into DIY is actually on my list of things to dabble in, but I'm not currently situated to do that at this point unfortunately.

Nowadays you don't need to build DIY something. Just look at the different Eurorack modules for Polarizer. You will find several below US$ 100.
They are sometimes also labelled as Attenuverter.

Examples from:
Doepfer https://www.modulargrid.net/e/doepfer-a-183-2
NC https://www.modulargrid.net/e/nonlinearcircuits-4hp-mix
Ladik https://www.modulargrid.net/e/ladik-u-0 ... uverter-dc
just to mention a few of the more favourables.

Please double check at the manufacturer page if it covers your needs (convert Voltage 0...+10 to -5...+5). I don't own any of these devices yet.

Thanks for the advice, but I am indeed looking for non-Eurorack options.
That's why it's a challenge. :)

How about the Q147 from synthesizers.com? It comes in in Moog standard size.

Well, sure, that would one of many options if someone were going into modular.

If you have a dfam and use the patch panel you are already into modular.
