My first Moog, no sound please help!

Post by ironteeth » Mon Apr 13, 2020 11:07 pm

Ok so I bought my first Moog and I am so excited but I feel like I am missing something. I bought a Subsequent 37 and have powered it up, plugged an instrument cable from the audio out on the Moog to the keyboard input (I've tried them all) I have pretty much every knob turned to 12 O clock. I keep trying things IO've been reading online but there's no sound!! Nothing! the cable works I can tap the end and the amp makes noise, but nothing is working. Someone please help me, I am excited to get some noises going on! Sorry for such a basic ask.

Hello and welcome. Congrats on getting a superb analog Moog synth.

Make sure that the OSC1 and OSC2 lights are ON in the mixer section and that the Filter Cutoff knob is all the way up and that the Resonance knob is all the way down.

Then make also sure that the SUSTAIN knobs in both Envelope Generators are fully up. Check that the MUTE light is off in the output section and that the Volume knob is about half way up.

You should hear notes when playing the keyboard now.

Hope this helps.

Hi and welcome!

Reading the first sections of the manual is a good idea too as Moog often provide a "get started" section.

So Ironteeth, did you manage to get a sound out of your Moog?
