Duration of time it takes to do repairs

Post by didlisquat » Mon Mar 23, 2015 9:24 pm

I was wondering if anyone has had to send a product to Moog for repairs

If so, how long does it usually take to get it back?

It all depends on what they have to do to perform the repairs. If it's a simple thing, it could be quick. But if it's a major issue, it could take longer I suppose.

If time is an issue and if you are hesitant to ship your precious Moog, finding a trustable local repair facility that you can build a connection with could be a real asset. For many years I would keep a backup of each my main synths knowing that repair work was usually unreliable and take a lot of time. Now I have a local repair shop I can go to that does good work where the owner knows me.

You can contact them to ask about the length of the queue... for me last October it was about a month to repair one of the mod busses on my Voyager XL. The good thing is that I only needed to send in the analog board from the back of the XL, which was fairly easy to remove.

Also you can pay $50 (again double check with Moog for the exact price) to be moved to the front of the queue, if it is urgent.

Didlisquat makes good points. I would also ad that if most of your synth still works or you have backup gear, you may time repairs for when Moog or your local synth repair specialist has a shorter cue.

This is good to know. I'll have to do that next time. Over two and a half months and still waiting to see my fooger again.
