Multimoog problem, sounds 'dirty,' FM/AM issue?

Post by puggle » Sat Feb 28, 2015 4:27 pm

Hello All. So my wonderful multimoog sounds, well, dirty, like there's AM or FM going on somewhere that's producing a low level buzz on both oscillators. It went from sounding smooth and creamy to like its over a crappy set of speakers. Slightly buzzy, dirty sound, and not in a good way.

Any ideas on what might've gone wrong, and how I could fix this? I don't know anything about electronics, but I'd be fine sourcing a part and soldering it in myself if it's not too difficult. I'm guessing the biggest issue is figuring out what's wrong, but seems a lot of people on here have experience with common issues this synth has. Any help appreciated, thanks!

Very common problem in Multimoogs - jitter in the oscillators. It's been a long time, but I think the fix is the connectors.

Funny, mine just started doing this too. I suspected the connectors also... just a matter of getting around to popping it open.
