Here's the quote from James D,

"Fast approaching is Europe's premier musical merchandiser tradeshow - Musik Messe. If you are in the Frankfurt area, drop by and see your friends at Moog Music, who will be exhibiting again this year.

Expect a BIG announcement about a little addition to our product line. Until then, we will leave you guessing.

Musik Messe runs from March 29-April 2 2006."

Little Addition?

Hmmmmm....Maybe a MicroMoog! :)

Lots of specultation on another discussion board about this. Some say a Prodigy type of instrument, others say a Source like instrument.

One poster said that the flashing light to dollar ratio was high, setting off suspicions that the new unit would have a step sequencer.

Already being compared to the new DSI mono keyboard....

Lots of fun but nobody knows for sure, except those who are sworn to secrecy, so there will be no help from them.

Might as well have some of the same fun on this forum.

I think it would be cool for Moog to make a PEK style synth. Half analogue and half digital!

- A Radiophonic synth that converts FM and VHF signals into modulation sources
- A Tablabox that plays Indian Tabla Rhythms
- Tax calculation Synth that allows you to calculate in your taxes while playing music using predefined patterns, just like on the murf.
- The Moog XC-Ski that records the sound of snow under your skis and converts it to Control Voltages which are transmitted via wireless connection to your satellite receiver and automatically creates a finished song when you're back home.
- A polyphonic car horn
- Moog 'Ringotonemoog" to make ringtones in high quality.
- A Brainwave modulator that picks up thoughts and converts it into audible frequencies
- A Speech Synthesizer that answers philosophical questions
- Software for designing custom Moog instruments along the lines of the Modular V, including all of the above.

I hope its a succesor to the source, that keyboard was pretty much near perfect spec apart from its slight unreliable flat panel.Ive never really needed a third osc on the source as it sounds so thick anyway.

Also maybe it could be a memorymoog voyager!!!!!!!

Either of those would be incredible.

Very exciting! :P

Thanks for your idea for the Ultimoog, Eric. It's not the product
direction we're going in at the moment, but we will keep it in mind.

If only i woudl have known that it was him, i woudl have told him thank you for giving me so much inspiration.
We created an album speciffically for him and I contacted Moog Music about sending it to him so he coudl listen to it, but unfortunately he passed away before I could let him hear it.

Really though, its probably the rackmount expansion box.

I've got it!

Moog should release a vintage reissue somewhat like the way Gibson does.

They should start with discrete components which can only be replaced with the componenets found in the actual vintage counterparts found on ebay. At least two of the keys will be broken but the local repair shop can take care of this. The case will have various scratches and dings and smell like bar smoke.

Want MIDI? Lintronics will make a MIDI conversion kit. Want presets? Come on, who needs them anyway?

Oh, between the back panel and the circuit board you can find some funky substances and a cool 70's style Moog iron on (Sweet!).

As for the manual, i'm sure one can be found in the far corners of the internet. It'll be a PDF with poorly scanned images of the pages, or at least most of them.

Here's the catch! The new Moog vintage reissues can only be purchased on ebay. The starting bid will be... lets say $3500. The reissue will appear to sell for $5000 ensuring that people know how much these things are worth.

What else am i forgeting?

BTW, this isn't a poke at Moog or its products but a pull on some of the prices i've been seeing on ebay.

so is the original message from James D for real?

hmm hope it is

i don't think it will the expander:
-supposed to come out in may
-"Until then, we will leave you guessing" we already know about the expander

"BIG" implies something really cool "little" could mean size or price (could mean "little" brother to the voyager)

think back to us all complaining for another delay, analog or digital,
we not only got 1 but 2!!

i think it will probably be something we've been asking for:
-cheap synth
-drum machine
-sequencer

there's no way to tell but that doesn't stop us from fighting over what it will be!
Not that it will make a difference but it might make waiting more bearable :)

CHEAPER SYNTH!!!!!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!

While we're all waiting to find out what Moog has in store for us, would having an additional Voyager oscillator to play with make the wait more bearable? We just posted an article on SquareWave that explains how to use the MF-102 Ring Modulator VCO as a fourth Voyager oscillator (yes, the VCO tracks the keyboard).

The article is called 'Lord of the Ring (Modulator)'. It's a PDF located in the Voyager FYI folder:

Files/Voyager FYI/Lord of the RingMod.pdf

Something cool to play with until the Music Messe announcement in late March!
