Moog electronics

Post by Schlabadiwutz » Wed Dec 31, 2014 10:20 am

The other day I was playing ice hockey on a "fussball"-like table at an old 70ies sport-center in Switzerland. Have a look who build the electronics for that game. :)

Yes, this is a famous thing - Moog did electronic design (especially the low rate audio samples) for the original run of Chexx and SuperChexx hockey. It seems all the vintage video-game collectors love it for the clear bubble and the sound FX. Pretty expensive to buy, but someone is making them again now, sans the Moog part...

A few years after Moog Music/Electronic in Buffalo folded I visited the site of the factory. By then it was a general sales hall with multiple vendors. The only hint of its former glory was a Moog hockey game in the arcade.

Last I heard, the building was slated for demolition.
