They changed woods over the years. I have an early RA Moog and it is walnut. I know they later changed to boxwood and stained it to look like walnut, yours looks like that.

From the plain wood grain on mine (serial in the 69XX) I'm pretty sure it's stained poplar (inexpensive hardwood lookalike).

Especially when the unstained original color is quite pale.

I could be wrong...

I was just wondering, I'd heard people say they weren't all walnut but I guess there's no good rhyme or reason for which serial numbers are which wood type huh? These things are so interesting. Thanks again guys.
