On the SP the feedback got implemented into the mixer section. On the Sub37 they excluded that from the mix section and added an extra feedback knob for that. Scream, if i am right. Or am i left?

p.s. Preordered one.

hey, does anyone know if the Sub 37 will be capable of Frequency Modulation?

and if not, I assume sending the oscillator out from a Freqbox into the Pitch CV input would serve this purpose? has anyone done this successfully with the Sub Phatty?

Someone said in another forum that's not possible. But I don't know absolutely for sure.................

Amos said in one of the videos that it will go into the low audio frequency range (20-40hz maybe) but not the same as if you were to use one of the audio oscillators as a modulation source like the freqbox or osc 3 on the voyager

In my experience, with my Moog Model D, Sequential Pro 1 & Prophet 5, analog fm is more usable and consistent from note to note if the modulator can maintain its frequency ratio with the oscillators. In the Moog Voyager and Model D the 3rd osc can easily be set to track the keyboard (and the other oscillators) when used only for modulation. With my Sequential gear oscillator B can be assigned to still track the keyboard but be routed to only modulate oscillator A. Unless the Sub 37's LFO frequency can be made to track the keyboard or if one of its full range oscillators can be set to modulate the other, the ratio of the oscillator routed to audio out relative to the modulator will change significantly from note to note. These ratio variations will then result in a huge variance of timbre from note to note.

studying that front panel, it seems like this synth is going to be very very capable at FM. 2 high range buttons on those 2 Mod sources, routable to each VCO independently is going to bring forth some FM chaos for sure. The controller button might be for assigning the keyboard to track or mod wheel etc.

but to top it all the envelopes will be able to be assigned as well and they have keyboard tracking. this is going to get real interesting very fast. Sub Phatty can do some FM but in a lower range and very limited. Sub 37 is going to blow it out of the water in that department. if they let you route the arp or step sequencer to different destinations other than pitch then its all over! GAME OVAH! lmao please Moog add that functionality in the menus...arp to pitch/filter/amp/mod source 'drools'

Anyone know how long these are likely to sell out? Would a pre-order at the end of March be a safe bet? Just wondering how limited they actually are.

they are going to make them for at least a year they said in one of the namm videos. so you should still be able to find one March 2015... although they might be a little more limited by then

I'm a newbie, sorry, but from the specs page of the Sub37 I read that the oscillators (Osc1/Osc2 Pitch) can be assigned as programmable mod sources to oscillators (Osc1/Osc2/Both Pitch). Isn't that (a way to obtain) FM?

Right, being able to use the pitches of Osc1 and 2 as modulation sources allows for FM.

yes sir. any audio range source can cause frequency modulation on this Sub37 either the OSCs or the LFOs are capable of "FMing" whats cool about this particular synth is that the LFOs are now high range as well so its just like having another pair of OSC for FM. should get very interesting very fast. now we need a VCO with some wave folding and symmetry to really bring it up with the times. run in thru the external in. a Make Noise DPO with a Midi CV interface and its madness.

add a nice high end 3rd VCO and this thing will really rival a lot of synths out there

I'm curious about polychaining with the SP, will it mean that the 2 oscs of the SP will be playable independently also (so that 4 notes can be played)?

no the slim phatty has two vco per voice, the oscillators can not be split. so two slim phattys will equal two voices, four slim phattys equal four voices, etc.

Even though the question may have been about the SubPhatty (SP stands for either Sub or Slim Phatty...), the answer remains the same.
