Signed by Bob Moog - how to know if its genuine?

Post by RikMaxSpeed » Sat Nov 16, 2013 4:46 pm

Hi
I bought my Voyager on eBay some time ago, its allegedly been signed by Bob Moog on the side, how can find out whether that's genuine or not?
Thanks!

It likely is.
Bob signed all sorts of things, Voyagers included.
Signature editions.
Bob's signature isn't that hard to do I suppose, but could vary in certain ways.

But please consider the other possibility:
Someone tried to forge a signature on the side of a Voyager?
What if they messed up? Had to do it again?
Is it really worth it to forge a signature only 8 years after the man's passing?
In 50 more years or so it might, but I can't imagine someone attempting something like this quite yet.
Maybe I'm naive.

Yeah I mean why would they bother?

I would think that if one were to forge a signature on the Voyager it would be someone far more desirable???

As Kevin said, Bob signed MANY things. His official signature is very clean and easy to copy. But it's not worth a ton either, yet! You wouldn't buy one just for the signature... would you? If you don't have a Voyager, it's a great synth. If I had one, I would not likely buy another just because it's signed...

It's likely it's real - and someone estimated his signature often adds $50-100 to something, from ebay prices.

Good answer, but I think it was technically the school's Moog; he had one himself at home in a custom cool case! Now the University one is here in LA, saw it just the other day...
