Big Modular

Post by thewaag » Mon Nov 21, 2005 4:00 pm

Has anybody noticed the modular synth in the TV ad for ABC's American Music Awards show?

When they mention the Eurythmics they show Annie Lennox and there appears to be a huge modular synth in the background. Don't know if it is a Moog or not, but it has that kind of an appearance.

The shot is very quick, and your eye is initally drawn to Annie, so try to look in the background of the shot.

Maybe it is some other type of gear, but I saw the ad twice yesterday, and it sure appears to be a modular synth.

Is this show taped from an earlier performance? If so, it might be worth watching to see the big synth
Thanks Bob!!

I saw it at a glance during Monday night football.

If you Tivo it you may be able to pause and check it out.

The Eurythmics were on Late night last night but i saw no modulars.

I found out on another board that I frequent that the segment shown is from their new music video. The message included the following link:

It is indeed a big modular, and the picture also shows Dave Stewart playing another Moog keyboard.
Thanks Bob!!

There's an Akai S612 sampler in that rack, too. That's odd, since it's probably the lousiest sampler ever. Even an Casio SK-1 is cooler since you bend it!

That would be a PolyMoog.

You can spot a Minimoog built into a new 19" housing there on the lower left just above the Akai 612 and its external 19" disk.
The Modular below the the Moog System 35 looks like a Roland 100 (not 100m !).
But this is all fake, because the is nothing in the Polymoogs out sockets. Or do we belive finally there is blue-tiith audio links for vinatge instruments ;)

Anyway, nice to look at for all gear-spotters.
keep on turning these Moog knobs

Sequence:
Prodigy * minimoog '79 * Voyager * MF102 * MF103 * MF104z * MP201 * Taurus 3 * Minitaur * Sub Phatty * MF105 * Minimoog 2017+ MUSE * One 16

Absolutely not a Roland System 100 (or 700 for that matter). I'd go with repainted black Oberheim SEM modules. The knobs are in exactly the same arrangement.

Dave Stewart played the Polymoog

Post by Jan Zinkhann » Sat Nov 26, 2005 9:37 am

Indeed Dave was playing the Polymoog, don't know if it was the synthesizer or the keyboard. In the background is the system 55, I'm sure of.

B.T.W. My Polymoog is the synth version with Polypedal and legs and is still for sale, anyone interested?

Greetings,

They played live on Friday's Today show. When they performed "Sweet Dreams" the synth line was played on a Rogue.

The Moog logo got a lot of coverage during this show. The logo was constantly in the shot. Can't buy that kind of advertising.....
Thanks Bob!!

talking about vintage moog synths on the tv, you can see a moog prodigy on the new depeche mode video...
