I know, I know! I regret it quite a lot, actually, and thought about selling it to get another Voyager. But, in the end (for now) I decided to stop comparing them and just make music. The Voyager, while being a relatively simple monosynth, sounds better than any other synthesizer I've played. The Pro-2, on the other hand, can be rather tricky to program, and doesn't always cooperate with your intentions for it. However, it is capable of a mind-bogglingly wide scope of sounds, and I do feel as though I've learned a bit about more complex techniques in subtractive synthesis. The two are apples and starfruit.

Here's a video of a performance I did this past Saturday for an Ambient/Drone event. The event was held at a beautiful Masonic Lodge built in 1921. I used three Moog Mother-32s and a Kilpatrick Audio Phenol with a few effects pedals (Eventide H9, Strymon blueSky and El Capistan.) I posted this in the Mother 32 area but deleted it since it wasn't really the place for it. Then I found this topic. Here is a track I did a couple of days ago. It's the first minute of the 3rd Brandenburg Concerto, 1st movement in the style of Wendy Carlos. I just did the first minute as a test to see if I could do it. I have 2 Mothers though I only used both twice: for a doubling of a square wave patch to give a warm chorusing effect, and a patch that needed a bright filter attack and a 40% open filter for the sustain since the toggle switch sustain won't allow for an ADSR type envelope. 18 tracks of Mother 32 overdubbed. No other instruments are used. All apologies to the great Ms Carlos on using her style (and sounds that are reminiscent of Switched-On Bach)!

Thank you! No it's not real time finger busting. I should have noted that. My timing is not THAT good especially at that speed!
I took a mutiltrack MIDI file, stripped out the CC and patch info. Everything but note on/note off info was kept. Moved the filter and modulation points by hand to emphasize certain notes of the counterpoint. A primitive touch sensitivity so to speak. The assignable patch output DOES do velocity but I don't use it for that, I have one output do sample and hold and the other to advance the second M32 sequencer to stack them. I like using "perfectly perfect" MIDI info and then breathing life into it. The original multitrack MIDI file is dreadfully monotonous as well as awful sounds (General MIDI is what it is..). Each track it played from the sequencer into the M32 and routed to an audio input as I manipulate the knobs while it records the audio. Then move onto the next instrument, do the same (repeat till completely sick of the piece!). My sight reading has turned to mush since college so I'm better off using MIDI files for a base to build upon. If fact it was weak to begin with!

Here's some rather cinematic music I recently made using synths and samplers...and Logic Pro X. Quite a bit of Moog and Moogerfoogers used throughout. I've been working on my mixing skills, so I invite any and all criticism that will help me improve. Cheers and Enjoy.

Here is an album my 2 piece band Fizzbin created called Lost In Spaces. The tracks were created with a Korg MS2000, Yamaha XF6, Synthesizers.com modular, PAiA 9700 modular and to round it out a Moog Sub 37.

In addition here is a track I wrote just after Leonard Nimoy passed away earlier last year. It's a sort of dirge called Bye Bye Spock, Bye Bye. Here is the story behind its creation.

The bass on the intro is filtered by my Big Briar MF-101 (the drums are filtered by the Resonator high-pass filter). The "Taurus Bass" under the solo is Little Phatty - just tweaked "Thank You Bob" - basically the only patch I seem to use! The vibes on the outro are extended with Big Briar MF-104 analog delay.

(And the bass is a fretless Alembic Series I in stereo - neck pickup clean, bridge pickup through distortion)

To learn more about song structure, I’ve been working on cover songs of other people’s stuff. Here’s a cover of the Buzzcock’s Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t’ve?) I asked Sam from the Blank Men to collaborate with me on this to try and get more of the synth-punk sound that I hear in my head. Because we both have multiple S initials we decided to call our band Alliteration.
