I have recently released this EP thingy. It's some minimalist dark ambient / noise drone / thingy. Moog wise, a lot of the droning is made using Filtatron's oscillator on an iPad which sounds surprisingly good. Also a bit of Little Phatty in there. Enjoy, it's a free download

Yeah, I caught that too. It was actually not the synth, but the Machinedrum which I'd programmed some tonal sounds into, that I never bothered to make sure was in tune with my synth. I suppose I could go back and tune it up with the synth and redo it, but I don;t think the original feeling would be there. Anyway, it's just a rough demo. I haven't been able to do any big productions lately as my computer is not feeling well in its old age. I think I will have to buy a new one soon, though in the meantime I'll just record these little jam sessions into my handheld recorder.

Setting up a new computer is so boring. My program drive died a couple weeks ago. Data was on a separate drive, and replacement drives are cheap, but reinstalling the OS and programs was still a chore -- one of several reasons I keep the synths separate and record everything on my iPad.

I don't mind setting up a new computer, I just hate having to spend that much money on something that will lose 100% of its value in 5 years. Buying a $1200 synthesizer isn't something you have to think about for ages; if you find that you don't like it, you can sell it back for most, if not all, of what you got it for. Computers are different, because you spend a lot of money knowing that you'll never get it back. That stresses me out.

Is this your music? You weren't clear on that in the post. I like it a lot. Definitely has a paranormal crime-drama feel to it, reminds me of Twin Peaks or X-Files. Are you the synthesist in the recordings, or do you share synthesizer duties with your bandmates?

Hi folks,

I was experimenting with my Q960 sequencer and two Minimoog's... one on each row, different notes dialled in through a quantizer.
A Lexicon delay and an Alesis reverb added. Just quickly thrown together, not had the two running in parallel yet so no thought went into the 'tune' as such.

It turned out better than I expected. I made another recording as well but not uploaded it yet.
