Here is a song that I finished recently (a couple months ago). I had the new Model D, my first Moog, on order and was waiting impatiently and wanted to use it on this song. But it kept on not being available, so I ended up using a Prophet 6 for most of the parts on it (bass, pads, some lead).

https://open.spotify.com/album/5PcGHk4n ... rvh60biQLg

After it finally arrived (yay yay!) I was finishing up the following song. I'm including the link to this one because I used the Model D for the bass on it. It's not at all a "synthy" song like the previous one. It is a gospel/rock song, so will be annoying to most people. My wife played the drums and sang on it. I played the piano, cello, strings, etc. on keyboards. So even though it is not a synth-based song, it is still just a bunch of synthesizers except for the vocals. Even the drums that my wife played on the electronic kit are sampled/synthesized sounds.

Hey gang! New tunes are out!
Deep house, jazzy broken beat dance music kinda stuff.
Not that glossy EDM stuff, don't worry ;-)

Gear used: Moog Matriarch, Moog Sirin, Moog Slim Phatty, Nord Electro 3, Sequential Prophet Rev2, Korg Monologue. Written and produced in Ableton Live, mixed in Universal Audio Luna.

Howdy,

Here is one of my compositions where I played all the parts on various synths.

The groove is super slow but syncopated and you can really sink into it if you are patient.

I think the two Moog solos in the middle, starting about 1:27, are two of my best. I played them on a Little Phatty Stage II. You can tell when a soloist is in the zone and the music just flows out without really trying and it all makes sense.

Leave a comment with the track if you like it.

Hey all! I wanted to share some of our synthesizer music performances and interviews, usually someone has at least one of the Moog semi modulars racked or nearby.

Piqued began in 2019 as an electronic music meet up in San Francisco, California. Composed of live performances and interviews with the artists, founders Korey Luna and Richard Hogben brought the monthly event to a growing local scene. Today, Piqued is a platform for electronic music makers and enthusiasts.

This probably doesn't really qualify as a real song or perhaps really as music. It is a short "jam" in the key of D. I was experimenting to see how it would sound playing the Model D along with the other 3 synths that were plugged in at the moment. The Model D does the lead through this. A prophet 6 with a novation peak handles the pad bits. A Nord with a Rhodes patch muddles up the middle part some. I played it to a click and then added a cheesy drum track. And there are several effects pedals involved just to ensure that there is no risk of sonic clarity anywhere in the audio chain.

But it runs on any modern computer via an emulator. If you ever played Ultima, you will love this. Lord British is even in the game!

Wow, that's really exciting! It's amazing to see a new console game release for the Apple II that was written in assembly and designed to run on the original hardware via floppy disks. The fact that it can also be played on modern computers via an emulator is really impressive.

I'm particularly intrigued by the mention of Lord British being in the game, and the comparison to Ultima. It sounds like it could be a lot of fun to play. Thanks for sharing the link, I'll definitely have to check it out!

Hey just wanted to share a little kind of demo track I made only using the Realistic Concertmate MG-1 (by moog music). I thought people might enjoy hearing what can be done on what is typically considered a very limited little machine. This is the second one I’ve owned. I had the first until it died, and I released it back into the wild. I started missing the sound and simple fun of it so picked up another one. Anyway, all sounds are the MG-1. https://youtu.be/UZ3gyEEWhA4

If you’re interested in more you can find plenty at https://isotopeofme.bandcamp.com/

Hey, cool! Yes you will dig it, especially if you are familiar with Ultima. The mp3 files of the stereo soundtrack are included with the game.

I used a Moog Voyager, Model D reissue, Grandmother, Oberheim FVS, and mostly real acoustic instruments as much as I could. RMI Electra-piano, some string synths, Fender Rhodes, Roland poly synths etc. Even a Balalaika a relative brought back from Russia in 1972. Orchestral bits were sample libraries though.

I highly recommend reverbnation's "crowd review"
service that puts your music in front of a minimum of 25 random people from the general population and has them rank your tune and review your work.

My latest scored an 8 out of a possible 10.

I think maybe my best work to date, not composition (although I really love this track), but from a mixing, tonal balance, sound quality perspective.

Any feedback would be awesome.

FYI primary synths - Model 10, Model D, OB6. More background, OBX8, Prophet 6.
