help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
okay, so i paid 10.00 to Technology Transplant for an entry-level "membership" a couple of months ago. at that time , their website showed a complete knobs/slider cap set for the Opus 3 for around 47.00.
a week or so ago i went back to their site to buy it and it had disappeared.
if any of you who have the 50.00 membership could tell me if the set has been moved to the upper
tier membership i would appreciate it.
Technology Transplant does NOT return emails. very frustrating.
thank you.

I have no idea about them but from the sounds of it, I would steer clear.

Re: help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
A good friend of mine has already done business with them (he bought a MG-1 sliders and switches replacement kit) without being a member. He paid via Paypal and received the items in good condition.
Here's the page for their Opus 3 kit:
http://www.technologytransplant.com/pro ... cts_id=217
Note: I do not personally endorse, nor condone, this company as I've never done business with them. I can only rely on my friend's (positive) experience with them, to which I can attest to, having witnessed it for myself.

no problem my friend...appreciate you trying to help.
ooh ooh i see you have a Roland 77.....is that the same as the TR-77? neat box..i had the tolex version but eBay'ed it a few years ago. turns out it was bought by Nate Wolcott of the band Bright Eyes. maybe it ended up

Re: help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
Maybe do as I did and just pay Moog for a set of MuRF slider caps (something like $20) and pickup a few knobs from Mouser or Radio Shack. The result is a nice quality feel that matches my other Moog and MU gear. Yeah, it's not original but I didn't much like the low quality plastic anyway.
If you were missing a few and just want to have them (not concerned about condition), let me know and I'll gladly send you what I have (PM me)

Re: help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
To hand solo: yes it's a Roland Rhythm 77 or TR-77 (as identified on the back plate). I've got the more common wood case version. Bought it locally from an old man for $50. Nice analog beat box. I've used it on some of my recordings.
To EMwhite: that's a great idea, and it looks rather sharp, too ! And besides, they are still Moog parts !

EMWhite..yes, they look great....did you get them directly from Moog? got a ph. number or web address?
i might take you up on the extra slider caps....i have two Opus 3's i'm restoring. one needs an entire set of
slider caps and knobs.
thanks!

Re: help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
Just ring Moog support at (828) 251-0090 or [email protected] and tell them you would like to purchase MuRF slider caps (I forget the quantity, may be 22 but I'm sure you know). I bought my knobs from Radio Shack and it's important that you get the type that has a set screw because the shafts on the original Opus pots are "D" shaped aka has a flat spot. Offhand, I'm not sure that the Foogers knobs have a screw (they might just be tight fitting on a round Alpha pot shaft so they may not work).
I think that Rosser helped me but I'm sure whoever answers the phone can take care of it for you.
If you are not based in the U.S. and would like me to front the shipping for you (as I have done for others), I'll be happy to. International shipping from Moog is sometimes very expensive since they use UPS. U.S. mail is much cheaper (likely by $10 or $20).
Let me know via PM if you need any help and with regard to the extra knobs and original slider caps, I'll be happy to mail you what I have but be advised that I do not have a complete set and some of them are cracked (all are dirty : )

Re: help with Technology Transplant Moog parts
Don't know if this will help or not but I purchased their MG-1 Essentials Kit: Slider Pots, Switches, Knobs on November 8 and almost one month to the day I received what I ordered in good shape and complete. After reading many negative comments about them I had my doubts but they came through for me.
