Electro harmonix tube pedals....

Post by Rabalder » Mon Apr 23, 2012 5:09 am

Has anyone tried these pedals?
Im considering the LPB-2ube for adding some higher (crispy) harmonics to deep low-passed basslines. (phatty)

Im not very familliar with tube distortion, but from what Ive read it seems like Im on the right track...

I use a LPB 2ube to add some harmonics to some virtal analogues. The pedal is ok and does its job, in a subtle way.
That being I have not tried to set it as an overdirve for synths. I guess it could do the trick.
I was also curious about the Tibe Eq and the Black Finger.

For the price some of them go used, it's worth to get one and re-sell it if not satisfied, isn't it?

if you can find a good used price, go for it. they're great pedals. they do have those huge wall wart adapters due to their power needs, but they're awesome pedals. plus you can play with the tube configuration & get different colorations of the sound.

I use the EH Tube Zipper. I guess it's a tube version of the BassBalls with extra tweakability. You can use it as a tube distortion, envelope driven filter, or a combination of both. Really nasty nasal sounds (I especially love it on my bass guitar).

Cool :)
After reading this thread I want to try it as an overdrive on the Moog...

I tried the MF104 drive but did not find it so beautiful. I tend to prefer the one of the EHX DMM with tap tempo. Tastes.
Plus I have that Germanium4 Pi overdrive/distorsion which certainly has character...

Cool..
The right kind of overdrive is worth its weight in gold!!!

I process all my audio through 2 phatties.. When the second phatty got coloured with a different character, it made the first phatty stand out and sound even better! Just need to find the right one. Hope I got it right....

Everything just keeps sounding better and better. I DIG IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't expect million dollar tube overdrive out of anything which is powered from a wall wart. The tubes mainly add "colour" to the sound.

Big Marshall etc. poweramps have multiple gain stages which add layers of fatness.

Yeah, there are a bunch of these up on Ebay at any given time.

I have an EHX English Muff'n (tube overdrive), and it does a nice job dirtying up synths, rhodes, bass, guitar, etc...

Joe

I would get a used one, but my local music store owes me some money.(i dont really have any other money available..) If I get the gear through the store I dont need to pay vat..
Importing gear to norway (used or new) is quite expensive if youre not a company. We arnt members of the EU..

Im currently looking at the Malekko Assmaster. Octave fuzz. Sounds awesome! I think this is the sort of colouring Ive been looking for.

I also checked out the EHX English muff'n.. Could be a winner. Unless I have to wait 3 months :x

I thought about this a while back..
Have you tried it? Any specific amp you could suggest?
Internet isnt exactly filled with examples showing the "moog+marshall combo"..
