Great stories! Demon_Dan, I don't even want to see your Cluster Flux demo if it made it's way onto a porn site.

EDIT-I just found my videos here. http://healthyheart-healthyweight.com/v ... tor07.html Disregard the above statement. I suddenly have the urge to make a video of myself eating a triple Whopper with cheese and bacon with a side of onion rings from Burger King.

I'm a big fan of Matrixsynth, have exchanged the occasional friendly email and have had a few pics & ebay auctions posted; one year for St. Patrick's Day, he posted a pic of my Maple Jade Voyager, because hey, green synth:) Folks can debate the fair use doctrine (I'm not going to in this forum, those who wish to can knock themselves out w/o my participation - too busy), etc. but 'stealing' seems like a bit of a reach in this case. It's all in good fun and if it isn't, I'm sure he'd be pro enough to remove any content that the content creator objected strongly to. But if it's a vintage synth ad, schematic or similar and the host (who was NOT the content creator) objected, then I'd have to question the motive? IMHO, we in the synth community should support one another's efforts.

I think Kevin's complaint was that with Matrix linking to his site, that bandwidth was being eaten up, and Kevin has limited bandwidth per month. He can correct me if I'm wrong, but Matrix wasn't responding to Kevin's request to have the offending pics removed from matrixsynth.com

Voltor, thanks for that additional info, I didn't know that; that's something a little different, and I do see how that would raise a concern.

Indeed. There is a thread, or was, at least, somewhere on this forum at one time dedicated to the evils of matrixsynth.

The basic issue was that Matrix took photos on a fairly wholesale basis and many weren't individually credited.
He had provided a singular link on the top of his blog for my site, then the content was just taken and posted repeatedly without asking.
I'd often be surprised to see things on his site that I had on mine.

When I wrote to him just to ask about it, he copped a fearful attitude and stopped replying to emails.
With that said, I asked him to remove my content if he wasn't going to communicate with me.
That resulted in all my photos being credited to "anonymous" and still no replies from him.
He seemed to be scared and assumptive and while I never said it, he started this "Kevin Lightner wants to sue me" stuff.
That was insulting as I had no intention or desire to sue him.
Even later when I sent him an email showing I knew his address (and thus could have sued him), he replied "Is this a threat?"
I don't understand such fearful attitudes, but then again I don't understand scouring the web for other's content and putting it on my site along with a copyright notice.
Most people don't do that. They write and ask first as a courtesy.
Even Matrix asks for a "courtesy link" back to his site if you use "his" content.

Most of the content of my old site I had asked permission for, took as a photo firsthand or scanned from vintage sources where any copyrights had long expired or the company had gone out of business.
Arp newsletters, for example.
It does take more work and time to ask first or to Photoshop (verb) items, so it's a drag to take that time, pay for hosting, then see stuff grabbed with no care or as Matrix puts it: "archived."
If I wanted another host, archive or for my stuff to be backed up, I'd ask someone or do it myself.

Anyway I don't visit his site very often now, but regularly go to Synthtopia.
I like his forum better and it seems to be more "quality over quantity" based.
I just like the vibe there better and no one accuses me of things I never said. ;-)

Thanks for the reply Kevin. I really hate speaking for others, believe it or not. Thanks for the reasoning behind your thoughts. It is much appreciated. :)

The only auction of mine that Matrix featured on his site ended up being one of the few bad deals I've ever had.
To his merit, he did remove a video of mine after I requested he do so. (This was after the whole fiasco with my husband, mind you. Methinks he just was twitterpated by seeing a video of "Girl Twiddling Knobs On Modular" and didn't bother to take a minute to discover that I'm Kevin's wife.)

Synthtopia's cool, and gave me credit when I noticed they'd posted one of the pics I put up on my now defunct synth blog.
