Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is that?

Also... and no slam intended... those shielded wires are mighty thick and probably quite stiff.
You might consider using something like RG-174U instead unless you really like wiring stuff over and over again. ;-)

Muksys,
Get that rotary sequencer, I think someone said that might take a month.

thealien666 got it. MFOS SL MS MKII. Fantastically awesome sounding piece-o-synth!

I totally agree about the coax cable. I was having a hard time finding stranded coax that wasn't whole spools. But I didn't look that hard and I had a bunch of old video cable I wasn't using anymore. It's got some flex to it, but, as you said, I've had it 2 of them snap a couple times now. Main reason why they are so long is in case I need to strip any back and to keep as much stress off of the joints. Thanks for that cable type, though! I just did a quick google search and found a couple places that sell it by the foot. Prolly gonna grab a bunch just to have.

It's on the list

Re: New plaything to go along with the Voyager

Post by GregAE » Mon Mar 04, 2013 8:33 pm

After years of playing around with semi-modular configurations, I decided it was time to get serious:

Image

A two cabinet Synthesizers.com modular system:
3 Oscillators
Slew Limiter (AKA Lag Processor)
Clipper/Rectifier
8-Input Mixer
State Variable Filter (HP/LP/BP/Notch)
Transistor Ladder filter
2 EG's
2 VCAs
960 Sequence Controller (based on Bob's original 960 design)
961 Interface
962 Sequential Switch
MIDI Interface
2 Multiples
Mini-jack Interface (for those times when you absolutely, positively have to connect to Euro-rack style gear...)

My Voyager is real happy with its new friend (and I'm pretty pleased as well):

Now THAT's entertainment!

Thats very nice. Have you been looking at other manufacturers other than Roger?

Of course, but I had to start somewhere, and the dotcom system was the easiest thing to assemble first. I have a few spaces left in the second cabinet, so I'm considering the options. STG, Moon, Curetronic, Cyndustries, etc. , all are possibilities as soon as my wallet recovers. ;-)

Your wallet is not going to recover considering that group of modules : )

But I had a question for you... where is you VX-351? Don't tell me you don't have one and you are running that rig through Midi alone? If I'm wrong, you owe it to yourself to pick one up if for no other reason than to get the aftertouch CV, analog pitch bend out, all LFO shapes simultaneously, etc.
'76 Minimoog, Taurus 3, Oberheim FVS + Son of 2-voice; Sequential ProOne; Juno 106; Moog Model 15; Kurzweil 250; Hammond M3; and a handful of Fender Basses Flickr!

I would seriously wait on Cyndustries until she gets her act together. I think she has started fulfilling orders but the only way I would order from her is if there was something in a store in stock that was ready to ship. There has been chaos on Muff's about her.

Those zeroscillators though....

Congratulations! Your wallet will never recover now, but I think you probably understand this better than I do!

Way ahead of you on that one, EM! Just out of the frame sits an equipment rack with a VX-351 CV Expander and CP-251Control Processor. In fact, the CP-251 adds the functionality of other dotcom modules I didn't pick up - namely the Noise source and Sample & Hold modules, plus it gives me an extra LFO, a CV Mixer, two Attenuators and a Multiple.

And I do expect my wallet will eventually recover; there's always more gear to buy...

To quote a fellow modular enthusiast after I announced my latest acquisition:

'Welcome to the dark side. You've just gone down the modular rabbit hole... it never ends!"

If so, here's to a never-ending journey (wine glass raised...).

I've been down that rabbit hole back in the early 1980s - with my PAiA modular.

Congrats on the modular. Now get a Voyager XL :)
