A Yamaha CS-15 in excellent condition. :D (Only a little audible scratching in the LFO knob for the VCF of OSC 1 - I can live with that.) So far, it has been super fun to play with, and it sounds fantastic. I have yet to test the CV in functions, but will soon do that, as I discovered that the Beatstep pro can actually handle Hz/v.

But the sound is really cool, and the filters are great. And as well known, a very affordable unit given its capabilities. Customs, VAT and postage from Japan (plus a converter for 220 -> 100 V) was almost as much as the unit itself, which were only around 480 US dollar (mind you lucky Americans that when we in Europe purchase American instruments, the price is around 30 percent higher - the downside of non-free trade  ).

Congrats Kirneh Ness! The CS-15 is a wonderful synth with a lot of capability. I still have mine after almost 40 years and it's still going strong.

I recently did a bit of upgrading to mine using some Moog-style knobs (the same ones as on the Sub 37) and wood inlays in the side panels:

And I swear it sounds better with those new knobs!

I am certain it does :D Everything looks really cool!
May I ask, how do you handle the "Hz/v problem" (if it is a problem; I mean some still actually play the instruments :) )?

To be honest, I've never tried CV interfacing on the CS-15 - I've always played it from the keys! I never thought of "Hz/V" as a problem, but rather simply as another interface standard that didn't catch on with major synth manufacturers.

To answer your question, I have several MIDI sequencers that handle both V/Oct and Hz/V. One is a Future Retro Mobius and the other is the Korg SQ1. Both of those devices are used with the Voyager and my Dotcom modular (in V/Oct mode, of course). One day I'll have to try them on the CS-15.

Enjoy your new gear! :D

I just bought a Model D!!!

... but it's probably not one of the ones you were thinking of.

It's a Behringer Deepmind 12D Desktop module:

Well-designed and solidly built, it's a great sounding poly with full size controls (no tweezers needed to operate this machine [ahem... Roland]).

Oh, and I noticed that the knobs on the left are the same ones used on the Sub 37. :D :D :D

Thanks thealien!

I'm aware that Behringer is known for producing cheap stuff that doesn't last (ask any gear repair shop), and I thought long and hard about this before taking the plunge. Glad I did, though. Hopefully, Behringer has finally addressed their quality issues and the DM will be around for a long time. 8)

Yeah, their cheap effects pedals were rather...well, cheap.

But these synths carry a 3 years warranty and have a quality feel to them. Let's hope that we won't have to use that warranty, ever.
