Why are all the postsa moderated??

Post by n2design » Mon Feb 13, 2012 12:42 am

This is really annoying, posts show up out of sequence. Who's idea was it to babysit the conversations. It's a really off putting. Im seriously thinking of returning all my moog gear, this is not a culture I feel comfortable in.

I think a post moves to the top of the thread list whenever it receives a new reply, so that the most 'current' discussions are easily accessed. I would be very surprised if any individual moderated where the posts were in the discussion listings....
* edit - please note thealien666's 2nd reply further down in this thread which explains what probably has happened! Welcome to the forum!

But hey, you would seriously return all your Moog gear because of some perceived (note the term perceived as opposed to actual) slight to your sensibilities in a discussion forum? Really? The world of internets forums is not for you n2design! You get annoyed by posts moving around? Have you actually read some of the exchanges in those posts? (& personally I think this forum is a friendly place comppared to some others!)

 Really, you need to get yourself a thicker skin. If I returned all my gear because people on internet sites didn't like me I'd have an empty house.

I'm not even sure what you're seeing, nothing is out of sequence. The forum looks normal to me. Is there a specific thread you can point out where this is happening?

The Taurus microsite has horrible out of sequence threading but that's just due to no-one really bothering to update that site.

I remember my first 5 posts or so were moderated. This is a security against spam bots.

That being, be aware: you may indeed be told things you don't want to hear on forums...
Welcome aboard, keep cool :)

n2design, I think you should check out this post: "a big thanks to everyone, best synth forum I know" . . . it's a little further down from yours. The Moog forum is the friendliest, most collaborative synth forum on the web. I feel that this whole thing is probably just a misunderstanding. But, if you really decide to get rid of all your Moog gear, I'd be happy to help stiiiiiiive take it off your hands. :)
...Or are you just frequently prone to involuntary fits of pseudo-ultimatum hyperbolism?

Hey n2design, has it occurred to you the problem my be on your end? Browser or internet provider issues? No one else seems to be having troubles and other than entire threads getting deleted or locked due to OT content, there doesn't seem to be much moderation.

Posts are all in order here, anyway. Threads (or topics) move up to the top when new activity is recorded in them, and that's normal.

Maybe it's a browser issue, or preferences settings on your end, n2design ?

Before doing something extreme you could regret, like getting rid of all your Moog gear, better take a deep breath, and calmly explore other, less drastic, solutions maybe ?

This is indeed one of the very best place to come to and exchange with knowledgeable, friendly and generous people who share a same passion; music synthesizers.

The only evidence of moderators interventions are in extreme cases, where personal insults and inapropriate behavior has been detected. It has resulted in one thread having been removed recently, for the same reasons, and another one presently being "locked out", again for those reasons. And both times because of the actions of the same member BTW.

Just look around on the internet, I've seen other forums and blogs much less interesting than here.

Okay. I think I know what's been happening for you n2design, by looking at your first thread in the Voyager section on this forum called "Problem with patches".

You had created the new topic yesterday at 2:43 a.m. and since you are a new member here, the first few posts by yourself have to be approved (common policy to avoid spam bots). You had sent a reply at 6:27 p.m. that same day, but by the time it got approved, other replies by regular members had been posted already.

So that's why your first reply appeared out of sequence in that thread. But as soon as you get a few (I don't remember exactly how many) posts approved, you will be able to post freely and should see your posts appear immediately, in sequence, in a thread.

No need to get rid of all your beloved (and valuable) Moog gear! :D
