Multimoog problems

Post by sectorone » Fri Aug 12, 2011 3:16 pm

When reading the webb about the multi it seems like there's a lot of problems with it compared to the amount of manufactured units.
Does the multi suffer from poor enginering quality?

My problem:

My osc B randomly just dissapers with some snaps & crackles and sometimes returns again after a few minutes. Osc A is super stable and is not affected at all.
This started the other day and I hope you could guide me here.

Thanks

I don't know this instrument, but I had this phenomenon in some modules due to old / dirty pots or connectors. But it can be caused by other effects also.

a.) the pot / connector problem mentioned above
b.) a cold solder joint
b.) thermal problem

I would do the following:

Try to follow the signal from the oscillator summing node ( = end point) to its saw core ( = start point) backwards ore vice versa. Do this when the osc is running and another time when it has broken down. See also the schema. You can start at saw core of osc 2, see below.

If you don't have the technical papers, you can download them all from
