Zipper (stepping) noise when MIDI is connected

I’ve been doing a lot of ambient music with the Voyager (Select Series OS 3.4) and I am noticing zippering when manipulating controls while playing sounds. Particularly when moving the filter cutoff.

I saw this thread;

Where someone mentions a “dodgy” MIDI cable being the source of the problem. I pulled the MIDI Out connection from the Voyager, voila, no zippering! OK. I swap cables. And with another cable, I have the same problem.

So what am I missing here? No MIDI cable connected to the MIDI Out = no zippering. Could it really be two cables that otherwise work fine causing the zippering sound?

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Please switch OFF the local control in the MASTER menu or disconnect the MIDI input.
Have fun,
Rudi

do you have a midi loop? ie a sequencer or something where midi bounces back to the voyager? having so will cause zippering ime.

Thank you for the replies guys.
I don’t believe I have a MIDI loop. I am not sending MIDI in or out in the app I am presently using. But I am using the Voyager Librarian that does.

That said, I get the stepping with the Voyager Librarian inactive.

I’ll try Rudi’s suggestion later on tonight. Hopefully it does the trick!
