Ohhh yeah… you see that? down below? in my equipment line below this? Thats a Moog Voyager RME baby! Just sealed the deal and am picking up on Sunday!!! Can’t Waaaaiiiit!!! (Moog duophony here i come!)
Have you had the chance to try out an RME already?
If not, you’re going to be 10x as stoked once you get it.
I have the feeling that your right! I hardly tried it.. he was demo’ing it for me showing me stuff, but he didnt have it setup to a midi-keyboard, so i didnt get much chance actually playin it and tweaking myself musically… I have so many ideas about what to do w it when I get home.. especially pairing it up w my LP! 5 OSC!!!
I’m getting it on Sunday
It can’t come soon enough ![]()
Congrats on that acquisition. I, too was considering one but opted for a Voyager Old School instead. I’m glad I did but will certainly miss a) some of the Voyager features that OS doesn’t have and b) the poly mode.
But you should get your hands on the VX-352 and a CV upgrade for your Phatty.
Interested to hear how it all works out.

Thanks for the congrats ![]()
I personally would love a Old School too.. It would take some getting used to for the no midi thing, in my current setup, but I think there’s something really appealing about having it true to its old school form.
I was curious, what could I do with the VX-351/352 ? Getting the CV upgrades on my LP is sort of out of the question for me right now, just since the cost of shipping/duty fees, and the stress of sending my LP over the border to the states, is too high for me to bare right now. But people keep recommending me the VX-351/2… I know it allows you to go modular.. but what other functionality would it give me if my current setup was only the Voyager RME + the LP s2?
I should note.. for the price I got the RME at.. it was pretty hard to say no.. I definately would’nt be able to find a OS for the same price haha..
Hey anoteoftruth,
I live in Toronto, and have an RME and the two VX boxes. I haven’t really messed with them yet, but it seems like what they do is send and receive CV’s from external sources. So, if you have an LFO on a CP 251 for example, you could route it anywhere in the Voyager that appears on the VX box.
You could also do something like plug an expression pedal into it, and then have foot control of those same parameters.
One of the advantages of this is that you can set up modulations and control sources and destinations that will be the same regardless of whichever patch you call up on the synth.
Again, I haven’t experimented with this setup very much, so there could be other applications for them that I haven’t discovered yet. But it makes for some pretty cool interactions between my RME and my Moogerfooger/CP-251 rig.
Did you get your RME from Long & McQuade? They’re great to get used gear from. I got my RME last year for $1600. The only drag is that it has the old OS, and it’s not cheap to upgrade…
Lots posted here about what you can do with CV (in’s and out’s) but let me run through what I’ve done.
As background, I have a LP Tribute w/CVs, a Whitewash OldSchool w/351, the MP-201, and three fogers (101 Filter, 105m MuRF, 107 Freq).
First, I drive midi clock sync’ed with an LFO out of my Multipedal (MP-201), so it’s a 1/4" cable connected to one channel on the MP201 into the MOD2 Control Input of the OS. For you that would be on your 352. From there I use Mod bus 2 with SOURCE to MOD2 (aka the external LFO) pushing the filter.
At the same time, I step the MidiMurf pattern at the same clock rate or a multiple and also the LP Arpeggiator sync’ed to Midi.
Another application is using the FREQ CV Pitch Out of the LP to the 107 FreqBox to act as a 3rd Osc. Many people would route the output of the Freq (the OSC OUT) back into the “IN” of the Little Phatty so that the filters and envelopes would affect the sound in the same fashion as the internal LP OSCs. But what I do sometimes is send this output into my OldSchool in (for you, the 352 again), then use the GATE OUT of the LP connected to ENV Gate (352 for you) that way I can have a completely different envelope on the 3rd OSC and mix it with noise on the Old School or any of the other 3 OSCs. You can do something similar with standard Midi between your LP and RME but in my case, I can ‘pre-treat’ the Freq’s OSC out with another filter or the MuRF for different envelopes.
Another application is using the Filter ENV out or the VOL ENV out of the LP to drive the ENV CUTOFF expression of the LP101 Filter while playing a drum beat through the Filter. With an Arp going on the LP, you get a nice synchronized effected drum track that you can tweak resonance on.
One other is to use the VOL Env out of the LP plugged into the RATE control of the MidiMurf 1/4" with a sharp attack and moderately decaying Volume envelope on the LP. With this, the Filter animation will Step quickly at first then slowly depending on the RATE knob offset. You can do the same thing with the LFO/Sweep for a leslie effect on the MurF.
The point is that while Midi does give you alot of control over alot of parameters, there is no intuitive mapper and control panel for doing the same things. CVs are much more intuitive and you’re really just routing 0..5V to different controllers, via LFOs, etc. The possibilities are endless and I’m not really talking about Modular here, just components, which were once only available in Modular gear but packaged into MoogerFoogers in built-for-purpose, but also modular accessible fashion.
Midi is a big part of my setup as well. I remotely control the Tap tempo of a T-Rex Replica delay with my Multpedal, play Software patches in Logic from my LP, record, etc. I also have used the Korg NanoPad’s touch pad to control the Envelope of the MidiMurf in realtime (while playing a lead) and switched parameters on and off via CC#'s bound to NanoPad pads.
I wrote alot here but hopefully gave you some examples of how this all ties together. Depending on the type of music you like, you’ll find applications for all of it well beyond what I’ve described but I have to say that an LP and RME with a simple MidiCable is a great great pairing.
Good luck with it!

I just got it now… and yes.. it is amazing… and yes.. it’s gonna take me a while to learn well/get used to.
I love how great the LP works as a controller though.. pretty much right after plugging in, it’s pretty intuitive.
It’s a good day when you get a Moog. Congrats.
Thanks! Unfortunately my GF is not as joyous about it as I am haha. Oh well.
I quit trying to get my wife excited about filters and oscillators years ago.
