From what I understand, it is just an idea to add a larger keyboard to the Voyager. NOT a whole redesign. This was a simple design change to have a larger keyboard, and then they suddenly had new room to incorporate the Output Box and CP expanders into the new design.
I love those two boxes but it is a pain to try to use them unless the Voyager is sitting on a floor or table. For live, you could never use them easily. So, without spending much money on redesign, they added the ribbon, the patch-point stuff on the left, and I see squeezing in the extra 2 LFO’s + extra waveforms are a nice feature for me. I can really use the 180-degree-opposite LFOs for some tricks!
This XL will be a great controller - which the Voyager/Phatty really are not. It has full MIDI-CC knobs and touchpad and ribbon. I have already ordered one, as I am drooling over just the pics. When saw the pics, I tried to be the first, but I wasn’t. So they will sell to those who want them.
