I still need to get the CV Out label, and I’m looking for a decent way to label the ins/outs on the power switch side without it looking too, ahem, custom. ![]()

That’s pretty! What kind of wood is that? ![]()
Thanks – it’s wenge.
Cool! I thought about going with Wenge, but it coco bolo appealed to me more.
Yeah I was going with walnut but the pieces weren’t quite big enough and this was lying around.
I have a beautiful piece of cocobolo but unfortunately it’s not quite tall enough…
I don’t think walnut would have looked this good. Wenge has a distinct grain that just looks really nice with the lines of the Phatty. ![]()
Thanks, mate! ![]()
Beautiful indeed, bravo ![]()
Thanks! I really wish I had some way to (easily) etch metal for the input/output panel on the other side. I contacted Moog a while back and unfortunately, they’re out of the panels used on the Tribute Edition (which did have wood cheeks).
Did you not hang onto (and are using) the Metal wood panel or is yours a Stage that you’re making look like a Trib?
But I’m with you, having something to work up panels (or the lack of it) is the bane of the DIY synth gear maker.
Am sure you can get something from one of those parts houses that work up custom panels but it might cost you $40-$50 bucks.
Mine’s a Stage II – I hate the feel of that rubberized plastic on the original sides and it had started to come off, anyway, so I made these. The plastic ones had the legend for the ins + outs molded into the sides themselves…
I tried to cut out the controls from the plastic side but only managed to wreck it. My suggestion is to get one of them label maker things for a hundred bucks or less. That will be my next purchase. ![]()
EDIT- I’ve always wanted one of these…http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/597232/DYMO-Express-Pro-Handheld-Embosser/
I was originally planning on using the original panel as a donor but figured that’d happen – the stuff doesn’t look like it’d saw too cleanly… I need to get some stuff ordered through Front Panel Express and so I may get this along with it.
