Wishlist for the MF-108 (...or 106)

We all have our hopes for when they’ll reveal the MF-106 or MF-108. Moog has already offered several synth modules (disguised as effects pedals).

They’ve offered to us a:

-Lowpass Filter
-Ring Modulator
-Phaser
-Delay/Looper
-Pseudo-sequencer Filter Bank
-Sync-able Oscillator

To be blunt, they’re running out of modules to reproduce, and refreshing new ideas take time to emerge.

I think one classic module from modular synth history has seriously been overlooked, and it should be reincarnated in 'fooger form.

I’m talking about the bode frequency shifter, of course. :stuck_out_tongue:
Maybe it’s just me, but I love playing with them in Arturia’s Moog Modular software. I’d LOVE to have one to fool around with on my desk with my Voyager!

What do you want the next moogerfooger to be?

Well, it has pretty much been decided by the forum that the MF-106 will be a step sequencer. I’d like to see an MF-108 envelope generator, as well as a 109 VCA. Perhaps the Bode could be the MF-110? That would complete the requirements for a full blown Mooger Modular. What does everyone else think?

How about a simple high pass filter? And/or a comb filter? That’s not all that new or innovative, but they certainly would be useful. They could offer LFOs or envelope CV outs. I agree that a Bode would be pretty cool.

Isn’t the phaser a comb filter?

They still have modules from the original 900 series that they can rehash that they have yet to…

VC Reverb
Dual Trigger Delay
Highpass/Coupler

And theres always the COnstellation system that they are building 1/3rd of (Taurus III)

Volt,
A 108 and 109 ENV VCA would be paying double. Im working on a design I dub …the CP255.

I really think they should make the Multimode filter they designed for that software plugin taking the width of 2 cp251 style units. THat would be KILLER.

Then an expansion box for LP users.

lol I have their whole agenda planned out lolololool

What happened to the CP-252 through 254? Great idea with the multimode filter. The expansion box should be the LP-451.

Of course the rumoured PolySynth is another third.
And the Voyager(/LP) is the final third.

+1 on the comb filter.
Personally, I could have a real good time with one - given Moog’s
tendency towards tweakability!

+2 on the comb filter. Is that the same as a string filter? If not, they should make one of those as well.

I want a polysynth in a mooger fooger enclosure :open_mouth:

Seriously, I am looking for an 8 step or 16 step sequencer to use with my pedals or Voyager/Phatty. Layout similar to the MF-105 with sliders for the CV’s. 16 step without gate control, 8 with gate control.

Thomas

With the LFO amount set to zero, the MF-103 is a static comb filter. In 12 Stage mode, it has 6 notches, and 6 Stage mode has 3. The centre frequency of the filter is set by the Sweep knob, or can be controlled externally via the Sweep input (try an envelope!).

thank you its about time i really want to see a high pass filter in mooger fooger form, but yeah the 103 is basically a comb filter as well as a phaser, however a high pass would be incredible idk how theyve overlooked this for so long

a multimode filter (band/notch/highpass) would be super cool, it’s pretty much the only big basic synth thing missing in the new moog products aside from maybe an analog seq. If they could do that AND come out w/ a new cp-style model w/ a combo VCA/ADSR/Mixer they’d pretty much have everything one would need to get rolling on a moog modular. Guitar players and synth players alike would appreciate these alot, and modular enthusiasts would REALLY have something to work with as an alternative to other stuff out there. They could even sell a ‘‘Moog Modular Mini-System’’ starter kit type deal with the following:

6 space rack
3 space rack

MF-107 (OSC 1)
MF-107 OR MF-102 (OSC 2 or ring mod that can be an osc w/ attenuation)
MF-101 OR MF-108 (12/24db LP filter or 12db multimode)

CP-251
CP-351 (VCA/ADSR/Mixer/MIDI-CV?)

All the features mentioned for that CP-351 are probably not possible, but I’m not certain about just how small they could make a really basic one.

106=multimode filter
108=stereo vca
And I would like the cp style boxes 351=sequencer
451=envelope generators, trigger delay, and maybe more mults and attenuators one passive, 0 to 10, one active, -5 to +5

I haven’t had much experience with a bode frequency shifter…er uh none other than one or two youtube videos, but isn’t it basically a ring mod?

Right…thanks for correcting me, EricK. As far as the phaser being a comb filter, I don’t believe it is one. The phaser doesn’t seem to have a filter, unless that’s what the phaser is. I’m thinking of a filter that is even MORE far-out than the phaser…if that’s even possible.

I give up…

Interesting Article.

Oh…an all pass filter. Same as a comb filter. That makes sense. Very cool article. Thanks for that!

Future Moogerfoogers id love to have…
