Wiring Switch cabling for Keyboard Gate

Howdy.

I’m using my LP for a drone in a song my band is playing. I don’t have the momentary foot switch, and have been using an EP-2 expression pedal to prove it can work.

Problem is, the EXP won’t stay in the heel position (which is how you kill the note)

I have a really nice latching boss footswitch which would work OK, but it takes a TS-style plug. If you plug a TS into the Keyboard Gate on LP, and it triggers and holds. You plug a TRS into my BOSS pedal, and it won’t power up (it has batteries to run the relay)

What I need, is a hybrid cable TS on the BOSS side and TRS for the LP, wired so that the conductors on the TS end are wired in the proper way to make the Keyboard Gate trigger.

Does anybody know how the Keyboard Gate is wired? Which of the Tip, Ring, Sleeve need to be shorted together to trigger it?

Thanks,

CM

Huh, I’m a little slow on Mondays…

Seems if the TS triggers the Keyboard Gate then that means that shorting the Sleeve and Ring will work?

I’ll give it a try. If anyone can verify let me know.

Thanks,

CM

If it helps, what I do to keep my gate open for a drone is use a simple 1/4" plug. I often use a 1/4" to 1/8" TRS adapter, a 1/4" to RCA adapter, or if I can’t find one, just one end of a patch cable.
