will keys from an opus3 fit on a rogue?

i’ve got an opus3 that’s really beat up, and a rogue that is almost mint, except for a cracked key. i don’t know enough about moogs to open them up and look, but did moog use the same size keys for these synths? can i take a key from my opus3 and switch it out with a key from my rogue?

is this a dumb question, or do people not really know the answer?

No it will not work.

The keys on the Opus3, if i can remember correctly connect directly onto the main PCB . . they are unique to the Opus3 and more ‘organ’ like in their implementation (no resistor array). I don’t think the keytops are like the Pratt & Read J-wire mechanisms or the later Hitachi membrane ‘switch’ style keytops used in other moog synths.

I can’t remember off hand what the Rogue uses but you should be able to find spare keytops on the net . . the other thing is that is it worth junking an Opus3 for something cheep like a Rogue?

Mal

gotcha,
that’s what i was afraid of. it wouldn’t be junking it… the key functions, it just has a hairline crack in it. which, the opus already has a couple of.

thanks for the help… i’m now off to look for rogue keys.

outside of ebay, is there a good place to go online for moog parts?

You may shoot them an email and ask. You never know, they might have what you need.

Might be expensive though. You have to ask yourself if it works fine, does a small crack really matter? I personally wouldn’t dump too much money into a Rouge, especially if it funtions alright.

thanks.
