why arent there stereo inputs

Hi,
I’m confused why there aren’t stereo inputs on any of these foogers. There are stereo outputs, and in the manual it recommends stereo outs for all three of the mf’s I have. Problem is if I want to run them in a chain, I have to use mono.

They would have to duplicate the entire circuit in order to have stereo inputs. Your foogers don’t have true stereo outputs, simply either dual mono or A/B (like delay/mix outs on the 107). True stereo means there are 2 separate signals which when listened to through balanced speakers create a usually static 3d image, like with a drum kit. Things like the voyager and foogers have 2 variable mono signals that can create a 2 dimensional faux-stereo image(depending on how similar the signals are to each other), but also can do weird things that a wouldn’t make sense with a real stereo image, like LFOing the pan. For what you’re talking about, you can either sum the output signals of your dual outputs on your MF’s to one cable connector, or use 2 of the same MF, one for each output.

You’ve pointed out the single reason I don’t have a lot of Foogers. To have stereo width for murf and phaser but not able to chain them makes them much less fun. The guitar pedal concept (which gives them a far greater marketing base than otherwise) doesn’t work for producers and synthesists. Foogers are synth modules and I cringe everytime I hear a blues lick from 1952 somehow demonstrating the potential of these devices. Their potential shines with stereo loops and complex synth sounds. They are otherwise rather overpriced pedals and most people won’t use the CV inputs - not more than a simple wah sweep.

Time for a new line of stereo devices with analog control, or perhaps its all a bit late with plugins and MonoMachine now…

This whole mono-in-stereo-out thing bugs me every time I get another one.

I get that true stereo in would often require doubling much of the circuit.
But I still wish, as a partial compromise, that pedals at least had “stereo bypass”.

They could have Left/Right Ins, but only the Left side feeds the effect when it’s on.

When bypassed, the Left & Right Ins would be “true bypassed” to their respective
Left/Right Outs.

Now, the last pedal in the chain that’s “On” will be heard in stereo.

(I really wish the Ventilator Leslie simulater had this. Then you could connect it
to any stereo keyboard and it would pass L & R through when you’re not playing
organ sounds.)
