Which is best Fooger for a Bass player [also]

Shortly going to take the plunge for my first Fooger but wanted some advice. Watched what little (and much of it bad) content was on YouTube. Have an LP with the just announced CVout and also play bass.

What would you suggest for order of purchase?

Was thinking CP-251 followed by Ring Mod followed by MurF-Midi followed by Analog Delay followed by Freq.

Thanks

I have heard some Bass Players liking their Bass MuRFs.

I would say 107 for a bit of grit and overdrive craziness, the 102 for tremolo, and the 101 at the end of the chain.

The only foogers I use with my bass so far are my ring mod and delay. I’ve got a modular that I use for filters and such so I don’t use/own an LPF pedal. I like the delay the most and use it most of the time. The ring mod is fun for some really wild octave doubling sorts of sounds. Chords on the bass through a ring mod set to mix 5, hi and freq around 1k are really, uh what is the word I’m looking for??? Oh yeah, interesting!

I started my musical journey as a bass player. Basically it just depends on what kind of bass sound you like. A freqbox does a great job distorting your bass

Heres a link to a video of me demonstrating it.

Any of the Foogers are great for all frequencies so with the exception of the Bass Murf, none are specifically designed for the bass register.

THe phaser or filters or delay would be nice.

Getting the CP-251 first doesn’t make much sense to me. It is useless with the bass on its own and doesn’t really get you that much with the Little Phatty.

isn’t the CP only useful if you have multiple Moogs? I would suggest the Bass MuRF, a bit more rhythmic and just like all Moogs you can get interesting sounds.

The CP is great for controlling and modifiying other things. It makes no sound on it’s own. (I use 2 of them) In a bass rig, it would be the last thing I would buy. Delay, Phaser, Midi or Bass Murf, ring mod. would come first. Then, the CP to help controll them.

Well yes. I just got my LP back from Moog and found the new Filter options for S+H and noise (two things that the 251 added).

I would like something to drive CV inputs of the LP at variable rate. Have no use for the mixer just yet but was considering a Voyager Old School -OR- my first allotment of Foogers.

Looking more and more like Foogers may be a good first step. It’s a bit frustrating have CVouts now and nothing to drive (!). Have plugged mod buss out back into EnvCV in and Pitch for some interesting effects on a few of the patches though.

Thx for all the feedback, folks.
