When ? --> LP OS 1.04 & 2.00 for Tribute Edition

LP SE OS2 done,
now something for the Tribute?

Probably in about two months. We have to finish and ship the Multipedal first.

Where can I get OS 1.4 I have 1.03c

Me and my love of wood panels…

sorry i made a mistake : i was thinking about a probably OS 1.04 Tribute Edition with the noise problem fixed

And also :

2 months is a long time for some coding (EG noise fix) that is already done.

That the TE has smaller memory than the later LP versions is one thing
But now it’s clear that we’re just second grade owners as far as Moog is concerned
I’ve been trying to be positive, but really I’m just disappointed now

Guys, stop this!

It doesn’t matter how long it would take IF we could work on it right now!
We are three people who are trying to do a lot of work on a very short deadline right now! You are not second-class customers by any stretch of the imagination. We simply have to do our work in a certain order or risk dire financial consequences for the entire company! Are you so selfish as to demand that we harm Moog Music, inc. in the long-term, just so that you can have something for free now instead of not very long from now?

Really, please. I’m begging you. Stop it. You’re making me really sad and frustrated. If I could do what you want all by myself, I would do it right now - during a holiday - on my time off. But I can’t. All I can do is explain to you, again, why we must make the choices we have made. Now I am pleading with you to listen. OK? Thanks…

Amos

I continue to think that asking for a fix for a factory problem that makes us switching envelopes off is perfectly reasonable

But I’ve been asking for 8 months now and I agree that the whining gets boring
I’ll shut up all right

We’re sad and frustated too,
i already own 3 moggerfoogers, and i’ll never buy a “new” moog product again.

i agree with khoral, And it’s a FACT

Now i’ll shut up too.

We’ll release this software for the Tribute as soon as possible.
I will make a serious inquiry to find out if we can make it sooner.
This is my promise to you.

Thank you Amos

So my livelyhood doesn’t get made or broken by a update for my Tribute Edition.

But Amos is right as rain ! 3 people can do only so much. I’ve been in manufacturing. But I know Amos will do us right, as we say up north.

I know I will have something to look forward to, and that’s good enough for me.

LP TE # 188
Voyager Performer # 2173

Hey Guys, why don’t we go and make some music and enjoy it too…
(no pun intended, it’s not all about technology, gear and updates - although it may sometimes seem this way

Moog has one of the best track records for customer support in the synth industry. Customers wanted the after touch improved in the Voyager, and they did. People wanted the glide/filter fixed and, Moog got it done. Moog didn’t have to add an arp to the Phatties, but they did. If this was Roland, Yamaha, etc., there would be no fixes or improvements at all. I’m a TE owner, and I have all the confidence in the world that Moog will come up with a very reasonable noise fix, and they will offer the arp to Tribute owners. Your negative, unproductive feedback and whining can only harm a good company’s solid and well earned reputation.

Dear Amos and team,

you have full understanding from my side for the tight time schedule of a small company just releasing LP Stage II and the new OS.

Let’s just imagine: Even if there were no updates and I would have to work around the EGR noise problem permanantly, and even if I would have no access at all to OS2, I would still consider my LP TE as a beautifully sounding and beautifully looking little Moog, providing me with a kind of analog sound which I love so much since model D times.

So let me remind those, whose frustration may be understandable in a way, that if you even consider for a moment having only the choice of buying a used model D or Prodigy (without any presets in live use), or else having no Moog sound at all, you would be totally happy if someone told you you could get it again, at an affordable price, and with only one problem, not affecting too many of the sounds you use, and perhaps being fixed later. I for sure would be happy and buy, including the shortcomings. In fact I did know and bought, and I’m more than happy with the outstanding sounds I can play.

But instead of such a scenario we have much more: a small team which looks very trustworthy and good willing to me, providing a fine OS upgrade, developing the LP platform further, and still caring for old TE customers, as soon as time allows. Should we not appreciate that?

I would like to encourage you strongly, Amos, to stay on track and get the feedback from us (at least from me), that we (I) are thankful for sincere treatment and much prefer your open and sincere way of answering here over any pressure forcing you to retire behind a wall of “We don’t say anything before it will hit the shelves”, which some manufacturers choose to avoid all that customer pressure and stress. It’s so much better having you here willing to live in real customer contact!

I for one prefer openness and trust from both sides, and I can much better live with a delay (as long as it doesn’t last years) than with an indirect customer relation not naming things as they are, where both sides live behind walls.

Stay as you are and we will be allright!

30 years from now it wont matter what OS the TE is…theres only 1200 of em. I don’t hear people complaining because “my Model D doesnt have the germanium transistors” I’m pretty sure the TE’s will be running in 30 years too, the renowned Moog quality remains the same as ever. Keep up the stellar work and service folks we DO appreciate it. The upgrade gives me a good reason to come for a visit from Canada  cheers

Amen to Jim…I for one WILL continue to buy new Moog products. What a great company.

Well, I feel like breaking my vow of silence anyway
I don’t see why I should let people go on with painting me as an ungrateful spoiled kid who doesn’t know shit about how it works

If you have time to lose, you might check out my older posts, and you’ll the see that I was one to thank the team for the updates

You’ll find that I was one to say that free updates were a great extra, and that we should be grateful for them even if they don’t match exactly our desires, because after all not so long ago the synth you bought didn’t benefit from that added value
I was the one to say that a synth isn’t a PC
When you bought a Minimoog, it didn’t improve over time as the Little Phatty

You’ll find that I was one to thank Amos for releasing new patches, and especially the great LPII sound bank
I hadn’t heard before that of a synth manufacturer who’d give away all those sounds, that’s a great gesture

You’ll also find that I don’t take exception with the fact that the Stage’s improved memory permits better upgrades than the Tribute’s, although that’s a bit of information that would have come handy BACK THEN when I did choose a Tribute over a Stage

What you will find is that :

1 : Maybe I’m not a dream customer like some, but I don’t think it’s quite normal for a limited edition synth in that price range to come out with such a BIG flaw than the EGR issue (1200 units, for Jeebus’s sake)
That talk about germanium transistors is quite irrelevant
We’re not talking about some inherent building limitation
We’re talking about a DEFECT that prevents users from tweaking their sound envelopes properly… that’s basic synthesis stuff to me

2: While I do understand that new products are what keeps a company alive, I believe that FIXING the synths already sold should have been a top priority, and may I remind you that we’ve been talking about that for months and months

Of course, I also understand that it’s very easy for people who don’t have the issue to brush it off and treat the few minority of us like the aforementioned ungrateful spoiled kids

To sum it all, I still appreciate all of Amos’s good work, and thank him personally for being so in touch with the customer base and work to improve on the machines
It’s a great asset to have somebody from the Moog team on the official forum answering questions and giving good advice about problems we might encounter
I wish every manufacturer had the same direct contact with the customers

I can appreciate that AND at the same time express my regrets about a particular issue that’s becoming to annoy me a lot
