Moog Sales & Service

I’ll take a Liberation and a Taurus Please!

Actually, those are the sort of prices I remember paying for these machines in the late 70’s and very early 80’s. They got cheaper until about 8 years ago.

Hold the friggin’ phone. The Taurus III was already in existance?! That means, technically, the NEW Taurus should be the Taurus IV! I find it interesting that the OLD Taurus III used a Rogue for a brain, and you basically got it for twenty bucks when you bought the Taurus II controller. :open_mouth:

I’d be glad to take two of them $799 Polymoogs…one to keep the other running, of course.

The Taurus II was always sold with the same “brain” as the Rogue, to the best of my knowledge I don’t think they sold the pedals separate.

Keep in mind this is a Liquidation sale from the mid 80’s(86 or 87 I think) , I’m sure the Taurus III is a typo  .

Taurus III is a typo, and yes they did sell the pedals separately. I’ve got a set and the official model was Moog Taurus II Controller (sans synth engine).

I can tell you that list is 1983 or 1984 (Moog was “Moog Electronics” then, no longer “Moog Music”) because I purchased my Memorymoog from the factory for $1000 in 1985 and the Sources, Minimoog, the good stuff was gone by then. They completely stopped all music related manufacture by then (I was there). By 1986 Norlin dropped the Moog Electronics completely, sold to EJE Electronics. The only music related product released during the EJE days was a small guitar amp.

Fascinating. So what became of the Norlin name? Was this the same period of time Mike Bucki bought all the Moog leftovers?

Norlin no longer exists as a corporate entity, dissolved in the 1990s.

My guess is Bucki acquired the leftovers during the Norlin/EJE transition, they disposed of a lot of stuff then. A lot of stuff was saved by Roger Luther too.

Cool, thanks for the info, MC.

Something seems fishy… do these all work properly? I would take a $99 rogue as long as im not going to have to put $800 into it

please note - this is a bulletin from sometime in the 80s people. no longer valid. i was curious about the exact timeframe.

That looks like it is from an amazing era of when I was maybe 1…why couldn’t my parents have bought some of those beautiful instruments?

I was 4 in '86…my dad was too busy adding a modem and 8 inch floppy drive to the Apple IIe, and had bought a video camera and VCR three years before. The VCR/video camera money could have bought two reconditioned MM+'s, two flight cases, and a Liberation! Kinda pisses me off, if you want the truth. :imp:
