That Moog drum machine we all came up with in the other thread would be huge. I personally would like a MF vocoder similar in design (but Moog enhanced) to the PAiA 6710. I know there are older Moog vocoders around, but they are massive and very expensive.

I submitted a similar suggestion to Mike Adams a while back. My version didn’t include the filter since you can already get that as a MF-101. Also, I suggested that the VCA should be DC-coupled to allow CV’s to be shaped as well as audio frequencies. Although my original packaging concept was similar (using the 251/351 form factor), I suggested a rack mount package might be the better choice for two reasons:
I didn’t think they could cram all the electronics into a small box without a lot of redesign (to keep the price down).
I didn’t think that a ‘wall wart’ power supply would be sufficient to power the electronics, meaning that a more robust power supply might be needed, and therefore a bigger box.
But hey - I like your MoogerFooger concept, too. I hope that the folks at Moog are busy on this - whatever it turns out to be. Having an extra oscillator that doubles as an LFO, along with another VCA/EG would be a VERY nice way to further expand the Voyager’s capabilities.

Seems that our basic ideas address the items that are currently missing from existing MF products, namely Oscillators, ADSR-type EG’s and VCA’s.
If Moog Music developed a product that was both an affordable mono-synth (non-keyboard) and Voyager expander offering MIDI and CV capabilities, they would have a product appealling to current Voyager owners and anyone looking to add a bit of the Moog sound to their gear. Don’t know if it’s possible to combine these two goals while keeping the price to something reasonable, though.
Of course, their next offering could be something that no one has thought of. For example, who could have imagined the MuRF?
Whatever it is, I’m looking forward to finding out…

Why not a new MOOG modular at dotcom prices ? 
I’d indeed like to see Moog get back to making modulars. First they could reissue all the prior modules, then develop a whole new series that takes modulars to the next level.

If Moog makes modulars i just hope they don’t run at the prices of Buchla’s 200e modules.
This is what I’m hoping for. I think all this talk of modulars is a step backwards. There are already so many great new modulars out there already, you can already buy Moog modular reissues! Moog should be doing what they’ve always done…pushing the envelope!

i elaborated on this in a previous thread. something that would challenge a
tr-909, be analog, and offer tweakability similar to Vermona’s box, but include CV, a step-sequencer (or not), and um…the imagination and unpredictable ingenuity, build quality of Moogmusic. A legendary piece to astonish and inspire us all to do astonishing and inspiring things.
but I also vote for the unpredictable. i think the modular thing is being carried out through the Foogers, cp251 and vx351. And I like the idea of a Vocoder. I’d also like to see new types of controllers out from Moog (with good build quality).

planned to it back in 2002 but they are now with Terratec and their Sine series of modules ( former MAM )
They would not be the same price go to http://www.moogce.com/ this is as close as you can get to a Moog modular.

A Moog Modular would be nice..they could do it cheaper than MOOG CE…Their almost there with the moogerfoogers..it wouldn’t be too great a leap…
I think there are so many other modular systems to buy into now like MOTM, Doepfer, dotCom, etc. What would be the point? I would like to see them come up with more innovative analogue creations. The MURF. What a crazy pedal! How about a comb filter pedal with a bunch of CV mods and a built-in ADSR EG?
