I was looking at the MF-Delay but wasn’t sure if it was good with a synth. you would almost have to assume it was being a Moog product. Seems to be marketed as a guitar effect.
You can go, it will work with synths without any problem.
What kind of delay and.or reverb are you looking for? Rather vintage? Modern? Flexible? Bread and butter?
to be honest i’m not completely sure, my biggest concern is signal quality. I am pretty sure that the subsequent will have a vary high output and I do not want to over load the pedal input of whatever delay/verb I get. the keeley delay workstation looks cool since it has both.
EHX Cathedral and Boss RE20 do too, the later’s reverb being bread without butter: reverb volume is the only paramter you can set… but what a reverb!
I use both and they are far less hi-fi than any Strymon, Eventide or TC pedal. I like dirty.
The MF delay is great with synth, whether it’s the Minifooger or 104 (the only difference being the bells and whistles), the drive on it is amazing too, I always thought drive just meant distortion which I thought would be the last thing my Sub 37 needs but it just adds body to anything without neccessarily making it aggressive.
FWIW, I find they sound different.
I may be a little touchy when it comes to delay, though.
Not sure if you’re set on getting a pedal or not, I am currently using a Lexicon MX300 (rack) reverb/delay unit with Subsequent 37 CV. Works nicely. Good luck. ![]()
Well, in fairness I didn’t compare them back to back, I had bought the Minifooger and was still within the 14 day return period when Moog announced discontinuing the 104M so I returned it and took the plunge on the Moogerfooger. Either way, i think they both sound great with the Sub 37, I don’t remember thinking the Minifooger sounded worse but then again I didn’t get to try them in that order.
I did however get to compare the Minifooger with the EHX Memory boy which I sold to buy the Minifooger and I thought the Minifooger sounded much better with synths.
It is strange how Moog marketed them more as guitar pedals and barely focused on the synth aspect when they’re a synth company mainly but regardless they work with either.
Well I think ill go with the MF-delay. I like things branded the same too. lol
When you have it, tell us what you think ![]()
Will do, give me a few weeks to gather some cash.
Can confirm the MF-Delay sounds great with the Sub37, and its Drive function is a very nice addition to the gain staging. That said, I have replaced the MF-Delay with an El Capistan (faux tape delay) and I like its tone a good step more.
