well, moog didn't make it so....

…doepfer did!

looks one or two of these might go very nicely with a bunch of foogers, and turn it into a true semi modular - moog knobs and wooden sides too

now, whose going to beat them to a great little sequencer?

Richard

I think it is lacking a filter Envelope.

Yup, but I was thinking the envelope out could go to an attennuator and the lag generator on the CP251 then into the fooger low pass - its not the same as a dedicated envelope but it might be nice?

Stupid Germans stealing all our good ideas.

omg that thing looks awesome, i love it! 400 EU huh? that’s a steal, imo. The lack of a dedicated filter env is really not a big deal at all, a cp-251 or mf-101 would take care of that prob easily.

Quarter inch jacks?

I KNEW something was missing there! I couldn’t put my finger on it, though. The FR Orb is a great looking and useful thing, but it too is designed primarily for MIDI. If I had an XS, like I want, the Orb would be a great thing.

That’s true, but I think the point of the original poster was that lots of people were waiting for a 'fooger with ADSR and VCA, which this thing does have.

Anyway, all the details are here now:

Moog will eventually fufill that request, its just a matter of time.

No! 1/8" jacks… :smiling_imp:

Ummm…how do I put this? THAT’S WROOONNG! 1/4" jacks! :smiling_imp:

My mistake! I should have gone to the Doepfer for the specs before posting. I just guessed by the picture and knowing that there other products are 1/8". I wonder if Doepfer CV is 5v +/- ? and are they using Moog protocol “TRS 1/4” to target Moog users?

I dunno. Modulars usually use 10-15vdc +/-. An attenuator would take care of that, though. And I’d be willing to bet that yes, they ARE trying to target Moog users.

luckily for moog we’ll no doubt buy their VCA/EG when it comes out even if we do buy this Doepfer offering, and I must say I’m tempted by it. I have a lot of Doepfer stuff in my modular and while it doesn’t quite have mooglike quality and charisma I must say that it is mostly very good indeed, especially for the low prices they charge for it.

This looks like a winner to me, there is also the possibilty to buy 2 or 3 and bolt them together, and internal jumpers to change the function of some of the outputs. not bad.

Richard

definitely targeting. this has gotta be a direct response by doepfer to make friends w/ moogerfoogers; Moog started something big with these pedals, and I think Doepfer wants to get in on the action of it all for those who might not yet be ready for a full modular.

doepfer stuff from what i’ve seen uses 1v/oct and +5v gate so it’d work perfect w/ newer moog stuff. -/+12v for doepfer power i believe, but their LFO waveforms for example spit out +/- 2.5, so i don’t think you’d even need to worry about attenuation.

Thanks for the info! I knew there was a higher voltage than +/- 5V involved, but I didn’t realize it was their power supply. Very good to know. Now I feel like a total idiot.

been doing alot of research on starting to build one, didn’t know really anything about them before a few weeks ago. http://www.analoguehaven.com has manuals for all their modules in pdf format so you can get a good idea of what voltage they spit out.

really hoping moog puts together something like this in a cp-251 type enclosure, it’d be soooo fun having one of these sitting next to a cp-251 in a 3U rack! they’d probably have to simplify the features a bit though, as the dark energy seems considerably larger, and uses 1/8" cables. I bet they’d be able to squeeze in an OSC/Filter/VCA/ADSR though. maybe even an LFO. Not sure about getting midi/usb in there, but one could hope!!

It’s a Doepferfooger!

It does look a lot like a fooger. It looks good and its MIDI and USB controlled, a plus so its MIDI to CV.

I like it but Moog may be able to answer it with some improvements to the CP-251 especially MIDI control.

is gorgeous im very curious about it,looking forward to put my hands on one .
