I recently purchased the Moog Sub Phatty and absolutely love it.
However, I’ve been recording with it this week and working with a melody that has a sort of soft legato sound to it. Unfortunately I am getting a weird response randomly when I’m going back and forth between keys. Occasionally the key will not respond and the sound glitches out and then comes back. It’s super frustrating cause I can’t seem to finish my recording in this style of playing. I thought maybe it was certain keys on the keyboard but I tried an octave lower on the keys and the same result. Maybe there’s something in the hidden features I don’t have right? I hope it’s not defective but I still have 20 days with my guitar center return policy if I need to exchange it.Any other style of playing seems to work just fine. Help or advice is greatly appreciated.
Another track is that with legato enabled, the velocity-to-amp (resp. velocity-to-filter) parameter has the notes more or less loud (resp. bright) in a not so natural way. It works better in staccato, I find.
I also experience this phenomenon several times on different patches where the tone suddenly stops, even during the buildup of a slow attack or during the decay and sustain phase of a sound while playing legato. My opinion is that it’s a bug. I really ‘hoped’ someone else would spot this same bug, and here we are.
Thanks for posting this, jrivera! Maybe someone from Moog will be so kind as to look into this?
Yeah it seems to be something funky for sure. Although I did recently go in to the hidden parameters and set the Envelope Triggers to ‘Multi’ as opposed to ‘Single’ and this definitely helped a lot. It still happens every now and again but certainly much better than every other bar when playing Legato melodies. Maybe give that a try and see if helps you out as well?
Dan, there’s no use in sending you presets. It occurs on all presets, even the factory presets.
What’s more, i even heard the same thing happening on the Sub37 of my friend!
Wired things might happen if you created a MIDI loop. To check this, simply play the SubPhatty from the keyboard without USB or MIDI cables attached. Still the same problem?
